When the trio returned from their sunrise-watching session, the soft golden light of morning spilled through the windows of the house. The air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of dew from the plants outside, with the addition of the salty breeze that was ever-present from the coast. Jon carefully carried Mikha into the living room, her head nestled against his shoulder, her soft, rhythmic breathing evidence of how deeply she slept. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he gently laid her down on the couch, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. For a moment, he lingered, watching her peaceful expression before heading to the kitchen.

The kitchen was quiet, save for the faint hum of the refrigerator. Jon rolled up his sleeves, put on a kitchen apron, and began to work. The sound of running water as he washed the rice mingled with the faint clatter of utensils as he set each one, ready to be handled by his rugged hands, toned, brought upon by years of experience in his line of work, cooking, and even music. Soon, the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans filled the room, mingling with the earthy scent of wood from the dining table. The warm, inviting fragrance slowly crept into the living room, rousing Aiah from her perch on the couch as she was watching over Mikha, sleeping soundly on one of the couches.

Aiah padded into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes before stopping in the doorway. The sight before her made her pause. Jon had donned a simple apron, its dark fabric a stark contrast against his white shirt. The faint steam from the coffee pot curled lazily around him, giving the scene an almost dreamlike quality. His wavy hair, slightly tousled from the morning breeze, caught the light just enough to make him look effortlessly charming.

"It must be morning and all... but you look good in an apron," Aiah said, her voice breaking the silence. Her words tumbled out before she had a chance to stop them.

Jon turned, raising an eyebrow at her. A small chuckle escaped his lips. "That was out of nowhere."

"Well, last night, you told me straight to my face that I was pretty," Aiah retorted, crossing her arms as she leaned against the doorframe, her playful smirk betraying her amusement.

"Fair enough," Jon replied, his grin widening. "Thank you for the compliment, ma'am."

Their lighthearted banter filled the kitchen, blending seamlessly with the gentle clinks and sizzles as Jon cracked eggs into a hot pan. The yolks glistened, their edges curling slightly as they cooked.

"What's on the menu?" Aiah asked, her curiosity piqued as the savory smell of corned beef began to mix with the rich aroma of coffee.

"How does garlic fried rice, sunny-side-up eggs, corned beef sound?" Jon offered, placing the eggs on the plate as it was finished cooking.

"Yum! Can't wait," Aiah said, dramatically rubbing her stomach. She took a seat at the dining table, where a steaming cup of coffee awaited her. The first sip brought a satisfied hum to her lips, the perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness making her smile.

Stacey shuffled into the room moments later, her hair slightly tousled and her eyes still heavy with sleep. She yawned as she took a seat, blinking at the spread gradually taking shape on the table.

"Good morning," she mumbled, her voice soft and groggy.

"Morning, Stacey. Take a seat," Jon said, his tone warm as he placed plates and utensils down with care.

Stacey didn't need to be told twice. She grabbed a spoon and eagerly dug into the food. "How is it that you can cook so well, kuya Jon?" she asked between bites, her words slightly muffled but her enthusiasm clear.

Jon laughed, shaking his head. "Finish chewing first," he teased. "But if you must know, my mom taught me."

Stacey's expression softened. "Oh, my mom's like that too," she said, pausing to swallow before continuing. "She always made sure I knew how to take care of myself."
