The Avengers had returned from the mountains feeling a lingering sense of unease. After the intense rescue mission and the unsettling call from Hydra’s leader, the absence of Steve weighed heavily on Tony. Every attempt to contact him had gone unanswered, and as the hours turned into days, worry spread through the team. Tony was barely sleeping, constantly watching his phone and replaying their last moments together, hoping for any clue.

When the Dynamic Six finally returned from their trip, they noticed the tension in the air. Peter was the first to ask, his voice low, “Still no word from Pops?”

Tony’s only answer was a weary nod. He barely had time to answer before a loud crash shattered the silence, echoing from the main living area. The group spun around, their eyes widening as they saw glass raining down, shards scattered across the floor.

Standing in the shattered frame was Steve—or at least, the man who looked like him. But something was terrifyingly wrong.

His eyes, normally a calm, deep blue, glowed an unnatural, venomous green. His posture was tense, his face twisted in an expression they’d never seen before, filled with a dark, malicious intensity.

“Steve…” Tony stepped forward, his voice gentle, cautious, as if trying to wake him from a trance. “Steve, it’s me.”

The figure’s lips curled into a sneer. His voice was cold, laced with disdain as he spoke. “Who is Steve? I am Captain Hydra.”

Venom dripped from his words, and as he took another step forward, the team instinctively backed away, unsettled by the man they’d once called friend, leader, and family.

Tony’s heart broke as he looked into Steve’s cold, unfamiliar eyes. “Steve, what have they done to you?”

But Captain Hydra just smirked. “Your Steve is gone, Stark. And now,” he hissed, “it’s your turn to face Hydra’s wrath.”

The Avengers stood frozen, stunned by Steve's transformation. The man before them was no longer the steadfast, noble Captain America they knew—he was something darker, colder, and deadlier. Tony’s face hardened, his jaw clenching as he braced himself for the possibility that they’d have to fight the very man who had once led them.

Quickly, he looked to Peter and nodded toward MJ, Harley, and Morgan. "Get them out of here," he ordered. Peter immediately jumped into action, ushering them out of harm’s way, his mind racing with worry but his instincts in full protection mode. He could only glance back briefly, dread filling him at the thought of what might happen next.

As the kids disappeared, Tony took a deep breath, turning back to the man he once loved with every part of his being. He stepped forward, determination etched in every line of his face.

“Steve, I don’t want to hurt you,” he said, his voice carrying both a warning and a plea.

Captain Hydra only smirked, an unnervingly calm expression as he regarded Tony. “Then don’t. Stand down and let Hydra take what’s ours.”

Natasha, Clint, and the rest of the Avengers fell into defensive stances, prepared for anything, while Thor tightened his grip on Mjölnir, a look of quiet sorrow in his eyes. None of them wanted this fight, but they knew there was no avoiding it now.

Captain Hydra struck first, moving with shocking speed, his shield swinging toward Tony’s head. Tony barely raised his gauntlet in time to block the blow, but the impact sent him skidding backward. Captain Hydra advanced, relentless and precise, his attacks mirroring that fateful airport battle years ago during the Civil War. But this time, the stakes were even higher, and the Steve they faced was ruthless.

The Avengers sprang into action. Natasha attempted to disarm him, spinning low to swipe his legs, but he dodged with ease, retaliating with brutal force. Clint fired an arrow, but Steve deflected it effortlessly with his shield, sending it ricocheting into the wall.

Thor stepped in, swinging Mjölnir, creating a gust of power that forced Steve back momentarily. “Steve, remember who you are!” Thor bellowed, desperation in his voice.

Captain Hydra’s eyes flashed dangerously as he sneered, “Captain America was a fool.” He lunged at Thor, their clash sending shockwaves through the room.

Tony’s heart sank, but he knew he couldn’t hold back. Activating his full suit, he went toe-to-toe with Steve, their fists colliding in a flurry of blows that felt achingly familiar. It was as though they were back in that abandoned Siberian bunker, only now there was no glimmer of hope, no possibility of understanding—only the stark reality of fighting an enemy who wore his husband’s face.

In a moment of desperation, Tony managed to knock Steve’s shield away, sending it skidding across the floor. He raised his hand, a repulsor charged and ready, aimed directly at Steve.

“Please, Steve…” Tony’s voice cracked, searching for any sign of his husband beneath the green-eyed menace.

Captain Hydra chuckled, unfazed. “Steve Rogers is dead, Stark. You should have known it would end like this.”

Just then, a crash sounded from behind them. Peter had returned, unable to stay away while his father fought. He swung in, landing next to Tony, his face etched with horror and determination.

“Dad, let me help.”

Tony’s heart twisted, torn between his son’s bravery and his need to protect him. But there was no time to protest as Captain Hydra launched himself forward, forcing both Peter and Tony to engage in the fight of their lives.

The battle raged on, every Avenger giving their all, trying desperately to reach the man they’d once trusted. But it became painfully clear that this wasn’t just Steve under some mind control—Hydra had done something deeper, twisting him beyond recognition.

Finally, after what felt like hours of relentless combat, Captain Hydra managed to slip away in the chaos. He disappeared through the shattered window, leaving the Avengers battered, breathless, and haunted by the lingering echoes of a man they’d lost.

Tony collapsed to his knees, breathing hard, grief washing over him. Peter knelt beside him, a steady hand on his shoulder. “We’ll get him back, Dad. I promise.”

But as Tony looked into the distance, he couldn’t shake the chilling fear that the Steve he knew was truly gone—and that Captain Hydra had only just begun.
