The jet soared high above the clouds, the gentle hum of its engines a comforting sound amidst the quiet of the cabin. Peter, Morgan, and the rest of the group had just boarded the plane, heading back home after a week of intense yet memorable adventures in Wakanda. The warm evening light streamed in through the windows, casting a peaceful glow on the faces of those who were returning home, eager to reunite with family.
Peter, leaning against the window, let out a deep breath, his thoughts momentarily drifting back to the twins. He couldn’t wait to see Joey and Max again, to hold them in his arms. Every minute without them felt like an eternity. MJ was going to be waiting for him, too, and the anticipation of seeing her after so long made his heart race.
"Hey, Morgan," Peter said, his voice soft but filled with affection. "Do you think Dad and Pops will spoil them too much while we’re gone?"
Morgan, who had been sitting across from Peter with her headphones on, smiled at the mention of their parents. She pulled her headphones down to rest around her neck. "Of course they will. I mean, they’ve been spoiling us for years, so why would they stop now?" she teased, her eyes twinkling. "But with the twins... I wouldn't be surprised if they go overboard. Especially Pops. He’s always been the soft one when it comes to kids."
Peter chuckled at that, knowing Morgan was right. Steve, or Pops as they lovingly called him, had always been the softer, more lenient parent, the one who couldn’t resist giving in to his kids' every little whim. Tony, on the other hand... Well, Tony was Dad. He was protective, firm, and had an edge to him, but underneath it all, he loved deeply—especially when it came to his children.
"I just hope they don’t spoil them too much," Peter said, shaking his head. "Joey and Max are already going to grow up in a world where they’ll never know the meaning of the word ‘quiet.’"
Morgan laughed, rolling her eyes. "Don’t worry, Peter. They’ll be fine. And they’ll be surrounded by love. You’ve got Dad and Pops there. What more could they need?"
As the conversation drifted from playful banter to quiet reflection, the rest of the cabin filled with the soft sounds of people settling in for the flight home. The dynamic six were scattered across the plane, some with headphones in, others chatting amongst themselves. Harley was already halfway through a comic book, occasionally glancing up to share a random fact about the characters, while Wade was deep into a game on his tablet.
Ned, however, hadn’t been able to join them for this trip due to a family commitment back home. Peter had missed his best friend’s usual humor and insight during their time in Wakanda. "It’s going to be nice to fill Ned in on everything," Peter thought, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Peter’s mind wandered back to Tony and Steve. After everything that had happened in Wakanda, he couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. For his dads, for Morgan, and for the family they had built together.
"Can you believe we’re heading home?" Peter mused aloud, turning to Morgan. "It feels like we’ve been gone for ages, but also like it’s been no time at all."
Morgan nodded, the same quiet understanding in her eyes. "Yeah. It’s weird. But I’m ready to go back. I miss the twins. And MJ." She paused, her eyes softening as she spoke their names. "They’re going to be so happy to see you, Peter."
Peter smiled, his heart swelling at the thought of them. "I can’t wait. I’ve missed them so much. I just hope MJ doesn’t feel like I’ve been gone for too long."
Morgan gave him a look. "She won’t. She’s probably going to be more than ready for you to get home, just like the twins."
As they spoke, T'Challa and Shuri had joined them in the back of the plane, sitting down beside them. Shuri, always full of energy, leaned forward with a playful glint in her eye.
"So, Peter," she began, her voice teasing. "We’ve heard a lot about your family. You’ve got Dad and Pops, and of course, your lovely wife and twins. Tell us, how do you juggle it all?"
Peter, somewhat flustered by the question but still with a proud smile, glanced at Morgan for support. She gave him a knowing look and shrugged.
"It’s all about balance," Peter said, his voice soft but sure. "It’s not always easy, but we make it work. I’ve got MJ and the twins to keep me grounded, and then Dad and Pops to keep me in line. And, of course, I’ve got Morgan here to remind me when I’m being too protective."
Morgan laughed at that. "I wouldn’t have it any other way. You might act all cool and collected, but I see right through you, Peter. You’re an emotional wreck when it comes to those two. I mean, the way you talk about Joey and Max? It’s like you’re obsessed with them."
Peter laughed, shaking his head. "Maybe I am," he admitted. "But who wouldn’t be obsessed with their kids? I love them more than anything."
T'Challa and Shuri exchanged amused glances, their smiles widening as they watched the siblings bicker back and forth, their bond clear as day.
"You both are lucky," Shuri said, leaning back in her seat with a sigh. "It’s nice to see family like this. The love you have for each other is... it’s rare."
Peter and Morgan both nodded, their expressions softening. Family was everything to them. And despite the chaos of their lives, the challenges of being superheroes and children of two of the most powerful men on Earth, they had something no one could take away.
As the plane continued its journey through the skies, Peter closed his eyes for a moment, letting the rhythmic hum of the engines soothe his thoughts. Tomorrow, they would be home. And he couldn’t wait to see MJ, to hold Joey and Max, and to be with his family again.
"Tomorrow, we’re back home," Peter said quietly, almost to himself. "It’s going to feel so good to be with them again."
Morgan, her voice soft and warm, replied, "It always does, Peter. It always does."
