CALL HER DADDY PODCAST SET
los angeles, california
september 18, 2024
saturday
3pm

the day had been a whirlwind of interviews after my conversation with lorena that morning, my brain felt like it was about to explode from too much social interaction and answering the same questions.

now, as i sat in the studio, waiting to be called in with alex cooper for the call her daddy podcast, i silently cursed myself for agreeing to do the podcast.

as i was sitting in the waiting room, scrolling through my phone, i suddenly heard the sound of high heels clicking against the hardwood floor. i looked up to see my best friend, cailee, strutting towards me with a smirk on her face.

"well well, look who finally showed up." she said jokingly, sitting down in the chair next to me. she was dolled up as usual, her hair perfectly styled and her makeup flawlessly done.

"i've been here, i was just working on press and some interviews." i said as observed her. "you look cute."

she rolled her eyes, clearly not impressed by my compliment. "ugh, i hate that you're so nice all the time." she said, crossing her legs and resting an arm on the back of the chair. "you're so damn genuine."

i chuckled lightly, not phased by her attitude. i was used to it by now. "well excuuuuse me for being a decent person." i retorted, playfully batting my eyelashes at her.

"decent? except for when it comes to relationships." she said referring to non committal past. "are you still seeing theo?"

i rolled my eyes and sighed, not in the mood for cailee's comments on my romantic life. "yes, i am still seeing theo. and we are very happy." there was a hint of annoyance in my voice.

she smirked, clearly amused by my reaction. "calm down princess, i was just asking. no need to get defensive." she said, her smirk growing wider. "when do you plan on kicking him to the curb?" she asked as she applied lip gloss on.

i gritted my teeth and took a deep breath. cailee always knew how to push my buttons, and i refused to let her get under my skin. "i'm not kicking him to the curb. it's different this time." i said firmly, trying to keep the edge out of my voice.

she put the cap back on the lip gloss and chuckled dryly. "yeah, that's what you said about every guy you've ever dated." she retorted, eyeing me closely.

i let out a frustrated sighs at her words. "listen, can you not do this right now? we're minutes away from doing a podcast with alex." i said, my hands coming up to my temples to massage them.

alex walked out from backstage, a wide smile plastered across her face as her gaze landed on cailee and me. "there you guys are!" she exclaimed, striding over to us with an air of self-assuredness.

"hi alex." i smiled up at her as she approached us. cailee remained silent, sipping on her starbucks coffee and clearly not bothered by alex's presence.

"i'm so excited to be welcoming you two to my podcast! my two favorites and two best friends for the price of one." she said with a smile.

i chuckled and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, still trying to shake off the annoyance from my conversation with cailee. "yeah, cailee and i go way back." i said, smiling as i stole a glance at my best friend.

i could see cailee's lips quirk up in a small smile, she was now paying attention to alex. "yeah, kami and i have known each other for a while." she said, her tone a lot more pleasant now.

alex clapped her hands together, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "well then, shall we get started?" she asked, glancing back and forth between cailee and me.
