Day after day was the same. She trained. She talked. She ate. That's it.

Until one day, Steve came back from a mission with his best friend gone. He was broken and inconsolable.

Wanting to help him, Liz walked to his tent.

"Knock knock?" She said without opening the tent.

"Uhm, come in." Li opened the door and walked into the tent.

"Hey Steve." She walked over to him. He was sat on his bed, not looking up.

She crouched down in front of him and placed her hand on top of his large one, "How are you doing?"

"What do you think?" He snapped slightly.

"Okay. Okay I'm sorry." She paused. "Do you want me to go?"

He nods and Liz stands up, heading towards the door. "No wait!"

She turns around and sees Steve walking towards her. He stops in front of her, a tear rolling down his face. "Hey, hey hey." She put her hand on his cheek and wiped the tear from his face. She pulled him in for a hug and they stayed like that for a while.

She eventually pulled away and looked at Steve, "Are you okay?"

He nods and looks away, ashamed. "Hey, hey. No please don't do that. Don't be ashamed. He was your friend, I mean, I don't know what I'd do if Peg died. I would be so lost."

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For being here, with me."

"Always."

She left Steve's tent hoping she helped Steve. Unbeknownst to her, she really did.

The next day, things had started to calm down with Steve.

It was a very rainy night and Elizabeth, not having been able to sleep, was walking around the training arena. She was thinking so much about life back home, with her father and step-mother that she didn't notice someone come up behind her.

"Liz." A voice said. She heard it but didn't register it.

"Liz." The voice got closer but she still didn't react.

"Eliza?" The voice said sharply. Finally Luz turned and saw Peggy standing there.

"Oh, hey Peg, what's up?"

"That's exactly what I was going to ask you."

"What do you mean?"

"You only walk around at night if you're thinking about home."

"Don't. Don't call it that. It's not my home. Not now, not ever."

"Liz, I don't mean it like that. Please." She added quietly as Elizabeth turned to walk away.

"Lizzie!" Peggy grabbed her arm to stop her walking away. This caused Liz to spin around and pull her arm away, with tears in her eyes.

"No, Lizzie, I'm sorry. I-" Liz just shook her head.

"No. Peggy, just leave me alone."

And with that Liz walks away.

After a few more hours of walking around, Liz heads back to her tent to see Steve sitting there.

"And where have you been?" Steve questioned.

"Out." Liz stayed guarded.

"Come on Liz! You can't just disappear for hours of a night time!" Steve yelled.

"Why not?! It's a military base! It's certainly safe enough."

"Oh, come on! Why do it? To get a rise out of Peggy?"

"Do you really think me that petty?"

"Well I don't know what to make of you Elizabeth."

Liz's eyes wide at the use of her full name, no one ever called her that and the use of it only brought back bad memories

"Get out."

"I'm sorry, Liz. I didn't mean-"

"I said get out Rogers!"

With that, Steve left and Liz lay down on her bed, tears flowing down her cheeks.
