Steve walked up to the address that Tony had given him and knocked.

Liz answered the door with a tearless face, unbeknownst to Steve, she had cast an illusion over herself, to look fine, when she really wasn't.

"Hey Steve, what's up?"

"Liz. Don't act like everything's fine. Please? You can talk to me."

"I have no idea what you're talking about Steve."

"Don't lie. I already told you that you haven't gotten any better since the '40s"

As Liz went to talk, Steve cupped her face with his hand and wiped away a tear that she didn't even realise had fallen.

"Oh, Lizzie." Her illusion dropped and he pulled her towards him, pulling her into a hug.

Eventually Liz pulled away and looked to him, wiping her tears. "Do you want anything to eat or drink?" She asked, casting an illusion before Steve saw her tearstained face.

He grabbed her hand gently and spun her back to him. "Lizzie, what I want is for you to drop the illusion. You can trust me. You know I won't judge."

She dropped the illusion and smiled sadly at Steve. "There, now I can see your beautiful face."

Liz shook her head smiling, "You always did know how to flatter a girl, Rogers."

Steve scoffed and looked at Liz, "Never. I was so awkward, all the way through my life."

"Really? When I met you, you seemed so confident. You also had no trouble at all talking to me."

"Well, you were in the army, practically one of us boys."

"Very flattering." She said sarcastically.

"I meant that in a good way, Lizzie."

"You know, I never got to ask where that name came from?" Liz started, "seeing as you, you know, went all dead on me?"

Steve laughed. "Fair."

"So?" Liz prompted, and when Steve looked confused she continued. "Where'd the name come from?"

"Well it was a very pretty nickname for a very pretty girl."

Liz blushed and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever Rogers."

"I mean it Liza."

Liz smiled and walks into the living room, Steve behind her. Steve saw her guitar and piano. "You play both?"

"Yeah, I had about 50 years to learn."

"Why 50?"

"Uhm, it's kind of a long story."

"Okay, you don't have to say if you don't want to."

"Thank you, I want to tell you, I just can't now."

"That's okay, Lizzie."

She smiled at Steve. She missed this, she missed the friendship. She missed him.

"I missed you Steve. I really did." Liz smiled sadly.

"Aw, Lizzie." He pulled her into a hug.
"Honestly, when I came out of the ice, I thought you would be dead, everyone else is, I thought I lost the only friend I had left."

"Did you forget I was supersoldier?" Liz asked teasing, which caused Steve to laugh. "You'll never lose me." She said smiling up at him.

He didn't know what came over him but he lent down and kissed her.

They had only kissed once, but they had both missed it incredibly.

Liz felt a feeling of relief when Steve's lips touched hers.

After a long sweet kiss, they pulled away and Steve smiled mischievously. "Ya know, I only came over just to check you were alright because Tony was incredibly worried about you."

"Oh yeah, would you have checked on anyone else for Tony?" Liz asked teasingly.

"No, no I would not." He kissed her nose sweetly and looked around the room. "You have a nice apartment Lizzie."

"Thanks I've been living here for about 10 years? So I've gotten it how I wanted it."

Liz had her walls painted a dull sage green and had her white piano against one, with her sofas against the opposite one. She had a TV in the corner, which she barely used.

Steve smiled down at Liz mischievously, "Can you play something for me?"

"What? No, I don't think so."

"Aw please Lizzie?" He said, pulling a puppy face.

"Fine, your puppy face is worse than Tony's." She hit his arm playfully.

She walked over to her piano and placed her hands on the keys. "Have you watched the greatest showman?"

Steve looked confused and shook his head. "Remind me to show you that film later on. It's really good."

She placed her hands on the keys and started to play.

Liz finished and turned to Steve who was smiling at her. "How long have you been singing for?"

"I started in the '80s and started to street perform in the '90s."

"And the piano and guitar?"

"A few years earlier than I started singing."

"Wow."
