I got my car today.

Mamá really wanted to help me pay for it but I kept refusing. Eventually I gave in, but I didn't actually use it to buy the car. I put in in savings because I help pay for the bills. She always tells me not to but I don't mind.

I got the car though, so I'm happy. Right now I'm on the way to pick up Maria and her siblings for school.

The drive is as short as always so I get there in a couple minutes. I text her to tell her I'm here, I would always come to the door but then she started telling me to just text her when I get here. I would rather go to the door but if texting is what she wants then that's what I'll do.

After I went downstairs the other day after taking her home I bumped into her dad, he's a really nice guy, I like him.

I walk downstairs in a giddy mood after Maria just pulled me back and kissed the fuck out of me.

I make it to the bottom of the stairs when I hear Maria's dad- Antonio- call out my name.

"Lorenzo?" He asks.

"Yes?" I call back walking towards the kitchen to where I think he is.

When I get to the kitchen I'm right, he is in here.

"Hey son, how are you? Is Maria feeling better?" Son. Son. Son. I must have zoned out for a second because he says, "Lorenzo."

"Yeah, sorry, she's feeling better. She took a nap and said she was feeling better when I left to come down." I explain.

"Mhm, and how are you?" He looks up from whatever he's cooking.

"I'm good. Thanks for asking. How are you?" I ask him.

"I'm good, are you staying for dinner?" He questions.

"I would love to but I have to get home to my mom, maybe another time?" I try.

"Yeah, sure. Have a good night, and thanks for taking care of Maria today I'm sure you probably had some other stuff to do." He goes back to the pan on the stove.

"No I didn't, I'm happy to do it, anyway I gotta go, it was nice talking to you Mr.Rodriguez." I say, turning to leave.

"Antonio." He reminds.

"Right, sorry." On thanksgiving he told me he wanted me to call him Antonio and not Mr.Rodriguez.

"See you soon." He turns his head gives me a slight smile with a nod.

I give him a nod too then I'm out the door, on my bike and heading home.

Maria gets into the car and turns to me. "We can go, dad said he's gonna start taking the kids to school. Didn't I tell you the other day?" She looks genuinely confused.

"No you didn't, but it's okay." I reply.

One of the main reasons I got this car was so I didn't have to use mom's car whenever I was picking up all her siblings. I'm not gonna tell her that because I'm choosing to pick her up so it's my choice.
