Even though Harry had been thinking about their first, and so far only conversation, Melody tried not to pay too much attention to it. Key word, she tried. She couldn't seem to shake it off her mind. It kept replaying and replaying over and over again. From the moment their eyes met to when they were sitting next to each other in class. Their encounter seemed to just not leave her mind.
Now the day was over and she was out with her friends for dinner. It was a calm night and Melody liked that. She felt both calm and stressed. Calm of course because it was a calm night, but stressed because of two things.
One, at one point her friends will go back to their dorms and apartments and she'd be alone. She'll be in her apartment in her bedroom unable to sleep, because it'll just be her and the moon. She will be in her room sitting on her bed wishing she could fall asleep but won't be able to because the only thing there that can comfort her is the moonlight shining through her curtains. The night will slowly ticked by until its reaching 4:30 a.m. and she will finally fall asleep only to wake up three hours later to repeat the same thing. Unless she was fortunate enough to sleepover at one of her friends house.
She wasn't only stressed for that though, Harry stressed her out as well. He bought her a coffee today. Out of the blue. She had no idea why but really wanted to know, she wanted to know how much he knew, about her. What gave him the idea to buy her a coffee? It's one thing to know someone drinks coffee everyday, because a normal person does that without anyone questioning it. But when someone who had not once talked to you only knows you, buys you a coffee, questions will be asked. Did he somehow find out why she comes home so late every night, why she's always about to pass out in class. Does he know about her extreme fear of being alone.
The thought of him knowing made her feel slightly sick. She had done so well concealing it, making people think she was just the biggest extrovert out there. No one had ever cracked her code, figured her out. If someone asked what her fear was, she'd say spiders. If someone pointed out they have only ever seen her with people she would just reply, "What can I say? I guess I'm a social butterfly." and then give a little laugh which people would return. No one had ever really learned the real answer to these questions.
And what if he does know? Will he tell her he knows? Will he ask why this is her fear? He does after all as a lot of questions. If he does then she will have to open up because it'll be impossible to deny it at that point. Melody didn't think she could handle it if someone, especially Harry were to find out.
But then again, how bad would it be if Harry found out? He did seem like a pretty understanding guy. It would be Harry though, if he could figure this out with only one conversation he could probably find out anything about her.
"Mel, we're gonna head out now." One of her friends said snapping her back to reality.
"Oh, already? It's still pretty early right? It's only-"
"Ten-thirty, we all have to wake up early tomorrow, including you. Bye, Mel, I'll see you tomorrow."
She shared a goodbye with the rest of her friends before they left. Melody stayed for an extra couple of minutes to do the math and give a tip. Usually she gets to lazy to do the math and just guesses and ends up over tipping. At least that made the waiters love her. Of course she ended up doing that same thing and went to her car.
During the drive her mind went back to Harry, again. But she promised herself she would do anything to make sure he doesn't learn anything more about her.
