With a heart beating fast Melody was running. Her classes for the day were over and she had spare time. Usually when she had spare time she could either be with friends or on very rare occasions, running.
She ran in order to stop her mind from racing faster than her feet. If she was running, she was concentrated on her breathing, not her thoughts. To Melody, that was the way it was supposed to be.
Taking a break so she could catch her breath, she caught her thoughts along with it.
Images of Harry swam through her brain, "So, do you have any fears?" it was such a simple question but little did her know how much it scared the hell out of her. How someone she barely knew could somehow know her so well, it terrified her.
That's the exact reason why she didn't tell him what she was truly afraid of. Or maybe she didn't really know why she wouldn't tell him. Did she trust him? Even though she knows almost nothing about him, yes, she does trust him because he was Harry. And Harry was a calm, sweet and trusting guy. He had eyes the color of a forest, so deep and consoling. How could someone not love this guy. He had such a persona that made him so lovable. Sure he was quiet, but even in the silences that lingered within their conversations, it never felt uncomfortable.
Melody had thought her whole life that if there was a silence, it needed to be filled. But that first time talking to Harry at their uni, with her feet up on the table and no words being exchanged between them for minutes, she had never been so okay with the silence.
While thinking about Harry it gave Melody a lot of time to catch her breath. Now her breaths were even and steady. It almost felt like the thought of Harry even calmed her down. But of course, Melody wouldn't accept that as an answer and decided to say it was global warming. It didn't make any sense but it was always easiest to blame global warming when there was no logical answer.
Melody now decided it was time to start heading back to her apartment, she had made plans with her friends to meet up with them for dinner. But that's basically what she did every night, have dinner with friends, and breakfast, and lunch. And almost any other activity Melody had to do.
As she entered her apartment building, she walked up the stairs and began down the hall to her home. While she was walking footsteps sounded behind her and got closer until the person who owned the footsteps was waking alongside her.
"Melody." Harry said with a small grin.
"Harry." Melody said, returning his grin.
"Why is your face all red? I mean I know I'm a lady killer and I make all the girls go red, but you're something else." Melody just rolled her eyes.
"Oh yeah, because every girl just would kill for a guy who wears golden boots. And I was on a run so shut up about my red face."
"I will have you know these boots probably costed than your Nike's." Melody just laughed at that as they came to a stop and faced each other because they were now in front of melody's door, and just a couple of yards down was Harry's.
"Well I wouldn't be shocked if that was true because I got these for Christmas from my mom." Harry just smiled and looked down. Melody couldn't help but internally awe at how cute this boy looked right now.
Melody was about to say something until a girl started walking down the hall towards them, catching both of their attention.
"Harry." The girl said with a bright smile on her face.
"Hi, Jen." Harry replied with a smile not as bright as hers and put his arm around her waist.
"Who's this." The girl now identified as Jen asked Harry.
"I'm Melody." She said beating Harry to introducing her giving her a smile.
"I'm Jen, Harry's girlfriend." She said a little too protectively, but still subtly. Melody just lazily nodded to that.
"So, you guys are going on a date probably aren't you?" They both just nodded and something in Melody unleashed a little bit of disappointment that her conversation with Harry had to end so soon. "Well, I don't want to keep you guys from your date, so I'm just gonna go." Melody said awkwardly excusing herself from them.
Harry and his girlfriend both mumbled out a goodbye as she turned to open her door and step inside her apartment. As she made her way to her couch she didn't really understand why she was upset that Harry had a girlfriend.
