"Oh my God mí hermano!!!" A guy in a dread hairstyle said as he happily hopped off my bed racing towards me with his arms extended which I assume he was running in for a hug.
"Stay the hell away from me psycho! Who the fuck are you???" I spat out in complete annoyance as the glee on his face immediately disappeared into a rather gruesome glum.

"You don't remember me? Your favourite cousin? Micah? We use to hangout with eachother all the time..." He explained as it hit me, he's Brandon's younger brother who's like the same age as me. We used to play together a lot when we were kids.

"Oh... You?? I see..." I muttered out awkwardly. "Come 'ere!!!" He said then forcefully pulled me into a tight hug. "Uhm... dude I'd really love to do this whole family reunion bullshit with you right now but now is not the right time for it" I uttered pretty rudely as he pulled away sadly then slid out of my room looking totally frustrated.

"I told you he's not that nice..." Brandon's voice came from behind my door. "Idiot! You said he's super nice!" Micah retorted. "I was being ironic jeez! Don't you have some little sense for sarcasm??" Brandon said as Micah just groaned loudly then stormed away.

"I'm not nice? Seriously?" I said as Brandon entered my room. "Shit...you heard that.." he muttered out looking embarrassed with himself. "Of course I did" I replied as he just apologized.

"Yeah whatever dude..." I replied then turned to look away. "Cary?" He said which practically opened an old wound.
That's what he used to call me when I was a kid. No one really calls me that apart from him. Mostly it's just Care...

"Please not again. Just call me Carex or better Riley just like everyone else." I replied knowing where the conversation was about to head. "Sure sure... Imma try... Will you ever forgive me? I promise I'm a changed person... I'm not like how I used to be before..." He said looking pretty serious.

Actually, I am ready to forgive him yet but I at least giving him a second chance didn't seem that bad. Plus he's still my blood.

"Hmm... Alright... I'm gonna try and be nice to you" I muttered out vaguely as he smiled satisfactorily then darted away.

"Hey Riley! Have you taken your meds?" My mom shouted from the kitchen as I made my way downstairs. "Yeah I have..." I replied. There's this tons of medications I have to inoculate everyday just to make sure my system doesn't fail.

"Alright come here... Come help me out here.. I could use a helping hand" my mom said and even though I wanted to protest, I still went along anyways. "Why are you the one cooking today? There are several cooks in the house.." I said. "Today is a special day... I want to be the one to feed all of you.. You know a meal is not deemed good because it is prepared well, a good meal is the one made with love and trust me baby, I've placed lots of love in this one."

My mom kept on blabbering nonstop as I helped her cook. " What smell is that? Have you started frying the chicken yet? Oh my God Carex your hands!!!" My mom screamed as she hurriedly turned off the gas cooker and forcibly pulled my left hand towards her.

That's when I realized my hand was in the frying pan all that while. I've been frying my own hands and couldn't even feel a thing. My hand looked blistered for a while but after my mom returned to the kitchen with a first aid box, it just looked as good as new. As if nothing ever really happened.

"Ugh... God! Sometimes I forget that you're my son! You got me pretty worried there. It seems your abilities as resurfacing again... Winter is almost over." My mom muttered out as she wiped her forehead since worry made her sweat pretty badly.

Later, during dinner time, an atmosphere of complete awkwardness took over since most of us were not in good terms.

"Hey baby... I heard you went a bit rude of your cousin earlier today... Care you know they're also family right?" My mom said and to avoid further drama, I just apologized.
