Winifred's POV

After the attack on Melon Island.

I woke with a start. Hands immediately reached out to stop me from standing up. The thought of someone touching me or holding me down, send me into a frantic panic. "Let go of me!" I slapped, shoved and snapped my teeth at the hands. I didn't, or wouldn't, listen to the voices of the people trying to calm me down. "Calm down, child! We are save!" I ignored them and shoved them away from me. I jumped to my feet, ignoring my dizzy vision, and ran out of the room. I didn't make it far. I tripped over something or someone. "Hey! Watch it!"

From the floor, I looked around me. 'I made it onto the ship...but, how?' I was confused on how I got here. The ship was overcrowded. There was hardly any room to walk. I got up on shaky legs as I search the crowd for familiar faces. Only to see none. "Saphira! Silver!" I ignored my dry throat and kept calling their names. "Hey, kid!" A man I don't know approached me. He had to shuffle and turn his body this way and that to get through the crowd. I took a couple steps back, uncertain of what this man wants.

"Hey, I'm glad to see you're awake. I was getting worried." His words confused me. "Do I know you?" I cleared my throat as a cough scratched at the back. "Oh, you must not remember...you were unconcious."  He's words only confused me more. "Can you tell me what happened?" I couldn't, for the life of me, remember what happened. All I can remember was the pirate attack, fire and Silver shouting from the fleeing ships. The man gave me a look of pity. I frown and narrow my eyes at him. I didn't like that look.

"Maybe we should get you some water and a clean set of clothes, yeah?" The man beckoned me to follow him. When he mentioned my clothes, I looked down. My eyes widen at the amount of blood that stained my clothes. I started trembling where I stood. I didn't search for any wounds on my body, for I knew... I know who's blood this is. The man saw that I realized who's blood it belong to and was having a panic attack. "Shit! Kid, calm down! It's going to be alright!" He tried to calm me, but I couldn't concentrate on anything else but my blood stained clothes.

"S-Saphira..." I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to rid the image of my sister's severed limb. But, behind my lids, all I can see was the image of my sister falling down after a gun shot ringed in the air. Of her laying there motionless. "Breathe, kid! Come on, breathe!" The man was kneeling in front of me, shaking my shoulders to try and catch my attention. "W-Where...is she?" She must be here. I can't think of how else I got onboard the ship. She must have carried my unconcious body with her injured shoulder, and severed arm. It made guilt eat at me, and make my panic attack worse.

My vision swimmed as I struggle to breathe. The man caught me before I hit the floor. When I looked up at the man, the expression he was wearing made my stomach twist. "How about this, let's get you some water and somewhere to rest, and then we can talk. Okay?" He frowned when I shaked my head. I reached out and tightly gripped his shirt. "N-No! Where i-is she?!" I needed to see her. To confirm for myself that she was alright. Well, as alright as she can be. When the man stayed silent, I started shaking him.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" The man lowered his eyes to the floor of the ship. "She didn't make it..." I stopped shaking him. My trembling stopped for a moment as my breathe locked in my lungs. "W-What?" He finally raised his head to look me in the eyes. My stomach twisted at the look in his eyes. "She's gone, kid. You're sister didn't make it." My knees gave out on me. The man quickly caught me before I hit the floor. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision as my body shook with hiccups.
