Alice eyes opened abruptly as someone knocked at her door and walked in ''How would the boy from 2 feel about Peeta sleeping on your bed with you'' Haymitch teased and laughed at her shocked face ''Yeah i know you've been sneaking off to the rooftop to meet loverboy'' he got up and his face went to a frown ''Look do what you want but careful not to fall in love, remember he is a volunteer which means when its comes to the games or you he'll choose the games'' he said solemnly before leaving.

She shook Peeta awake before grabbing another jumpsuit, socks and shoes before going to the bathroom to change. ''Hey'' she called to Effie and Haymitch, Effie gave her a big smile and called an avox over to serve her breakfast. She smiled at the avox as she served her breakfast, ''Don't smile at them, they're avoxes'' Haymitch instructed and she looked at him confused. ''What's an avox?'' she asked confused, ''Rebels from the districts that the Capitol punish by cutting of they're tongues and making them servants'' Haymitch replied in a grave tone.

''That's fucking horrible'' she spat, ''Language'' Effie reminded her. ''That's the Capitol for you sweetheart'' Haymitch said before taking a swig of whiskey. ''Seriously its 7am and your already drunk'' Alice rolled her eyes, ''I need emotional support being a mentor is a heavy job'' he sighed. ''Sure'' she remarked sarcastically, ''Listen honeybunny if you win these games you'll understand alright'' he expressed before getting up and going to his room. ''Alcoholics right?'' Effie joked giving her a hug and smiling when Peeta came to the table. He grabbed a piece of toast and quickly ate it, ''You ready Alice?'' he smiled putting his arm around her shoulder giving her a small friendly hug and he kept his arm around her as they went down for training. Later on in the day they would be getting individually evaluated so she wanted to work on her skills as much as possible.

As they walked into the training room the tributes stared at them, or specifically Peeta's arm around Alice's shoulder. Cato turned around and his jaw clenched at the sight, they walked towards him and Clove. ''So you make your mind up yet Baker Boy?'' Clove asked, ''Yeah i'll join'' Peeta replied. ''Okay Baker Boy what are your strengths?'' Cato asked, ''Show them'' Alice stated. 

Peeta walked over to a big weight and picked it up, he put it behind his head and threw it. He turned to them and smirked, Clove gave him a small smile and Cato shrugged ''Not bad'' he muttered before taking Alice's hand and pulling her over to the sword station. ''Lets see what you've got baby'' he whispered into her ear making her smile, she grabbed a sword and went over to a dummy. She cut its arms off and decapitated it making the other tributes look in fear, ''Nice job princess'' Cato smirked coming up behind her and snaking his arms around her waist. ''Thanks i took a leaf out of Uma Thurman's book'' she smirked and he looked confused. ''Who's Uma Thurman'' he asked, ''You haven't watched Kill Bill?'' she said with a surprise ''I would've thought you of all people would've seen it, im pretty sure were having dinner tonight with our mentors so we can watch it after'' he smiled. ''Okay''

At lunch they all went to the lunch room, Cato and her sat at a table with Clove and Peeta who seemed to be getting along better than before. ''Im gonna go grab us food, I'll be right back'' he whispered before going over to the food. ''So Alice what are you going to for the individual training'' Clove asked her, ''Honestly im not really sure, i'll probably use a bow and arrow'' she replied looking worried. ''Hey you'll be fine'' Clove reassured her pulling her in for a hug, Cato came back with 2 plates and he cleared his throat awkwardly. They pulled apart and Cato sat in between them, he put her plate in front of her and she looked down nervously. He had pilled a lot of food on the plate, she swallowed a lump in her throat as she looked at Peeta. 

He seemed to notice because he gave her a smile ''It's okay'' he mouthed making Cato look at him confused, she felt tears building in her eyes and she got up taking them all by surprise. She ran out making Cato get up and run after her to make sure she's okay. She ran into the girl's bathroom and into a stall, locking the door before breaking down what the fuck is wrong with me? She smacked her hand against her forehead before she started to cry and shake uncontrollably. ''Hey Alice! Alice are you okay'' Cato burst into the bathroom before seeing only one stall was locked, when he got closer he heard small sobs. He knocked on the door, ''Hey baby what's wrong?'' he asked. ''N-no-nothing please leave me alone'' she stuttered making his heart ache.

''Honey im not gonna leave you'' he replied, ''I want to be alone'' she took in a breath. ''Im not going to let you do anything to yourself'' he sighed, ''Please open up the door''. She sniffed before opening the door, Cato put his arms around her and lifted her into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his waist and arms around his neck as she cried into his shoulder making his eyes start watering as well. ''Baby what's wrong?'' he asked trying to pull himself together. ''Isn't it obvious'' she sobbed, ''What do you mean?'' he questioned putting her down but still keeping his arms around her. ''This'' she beckoned to her body, you could see the bones sticking out boldly and her stomach was so flat its like it didn't exist. 

Cato's heart ached as he noticed it ''Oh baby'' he sniffed pulling her in tighter, ''Im gonna take care of you alright'' he whispered making her calm down a little. ''Okay'' she breathed, ''Try to eat something at least you need to build your strength up'' he advised and she nodded. ''We should go back now'' she mumbled and he put a protective arm around her. As they walked back in everybody stared but looked away as Cato glared at them. As soon as they got to the table Clove engulfed her in a hug making Cato smirk a little ''It feels like you're doin' this on purpose now Clovie'' he said making them all laugh. ''You okay'' Peeta asked as they sat down ''I'll be fine'' she replied as Cato gave her a chicken wing. ''Try to eat this alright'' he smiled and she nodded taking a small bite.

As they sat in a room waiting to be called for individual training Cato kept flashing her smiles through out but she frowned when Glimmer started trying to talk to him but he just brushed her off. Clove chuckled at the sight of Glimmer trying to flirt with Cato and made eye contact with Alice, she sarcastically rolled her eyes making Alice laugh slightly. Soon it was just her and Peeta left, ''Alice Everdeen'' a voice called and she got up. ''Shoot straight'' Peeta said, ''Oh but you know i swing both ways'' she smirked making him laugh. Alice entered the room ''You have 10 minutes to show us your chosen talent'' Seneca Crane called making her snap out of her trance, she grabbed a bow and arrow and stood in front of a target. She shot the arrow but it missed the bullseye by a few circles making the Capitol people laugh and turn they're backs, she grabbed another arrow and tried again. This time hitting bullseye but when she turned to them they were too busy talking about a pig, she grabbed another arrow and shot it at the apple in the pigs mouth, they all turned mouths wide open. She curtsied at them ''Thank you for your consideration'' she stated and put down the bow before walking out leaving them all speechless.

She got in the elevator and made her way up to the apartment but when she opened it she saw Brutus and Enobaria sitting with Effie drinking some whiskey. ''Oh hey girl on fire stab anyone else in the last couple days'' Brutus smirked, ''No but there's still time so you better watch out'' she remarked also smirking. ''Hey Alice'' Clove called walking towards her and giving her a hug, ''So how'd your evaluation go?'' Enobaria asked Alice as they pulled apart. ''Well i got pissed and shot an arrow at Seneca Crane and his besties so who knows'' Alice shrugged before going to the whiskey bottle and taking a big sip. ''What?!'' they all said shocked, ''Relax it was only at the pig behind them'' she said and Clove smirked. ''Nice job'' she said but Effie looked angry ''Why would you do that? now you're going to get a 1 for trying to kill them'' she shrieked, ''Who tried to kill who'' Cato asked coming into the room. ''Alice shot an arrow at Seneca Crane'' Clove said making Cato smirk. ''Wow she's sexy and brave'' he whispered so only Alice could hear but Clove managed to hear them and gave him a look of disgust, ''Where's Haymitch'' Brutus asked. ''Probably stumbling around drunk somewhere lets hope nowhere near a flame he might explode to death with the amount of alcohol he drinks'' Alice sighed. 

''Well were going to have to get started without him then'' Effie said looking angry, ''Im sure he'll turn up soon. Keep your wig on'' Alice joked slightly making her scoff but making the rest of them chuckle. ''She has a tongue made of fire too, she a whole damn fire hazard'' Brutus laughed. They all sat down at the dining table as the avoxes came over and served them dinner, all Alice knew was this was going to be insanely fucking awkward.
