Scarred heart,
slow in healing,
too afraid of being broken again.
A long list of ex-lovers,
of people she once thought she could trust,
could love,
could spend eternity with,
only to have each one break her,
shatter her,
leave her in a different way.

Back to the world now,
too afraid to take another chance,
too afraid of the impending breakage,
she watches through windows,
a small part of her dreaming of what could be,
what might be,
if she could find the courage to start again.

Lack of caring,
lack of self awareness,
all things Luna had heard describing herself,
and those were the nicer ones,
she doesn't care what they say.
Wants no part of them.
Still, she couldn't help noticing the eyes watching,
the witch standing outside,
pretending she didn't care it was raining,
pretending she didn't want to be a part of the scene.

Luna opens the door,
without a moment's hesitation,
stepping out into the rain,
letting it soak for a moment before
popping open her watermelon umbrella,
flashing a smile,
offering the dryness,
an offer reluctantly,
finally accepted,
as a scarred heart,
a once broken and betrayed heart,
starts to heal once again
