"Woah, Tris! Be careful!" Uriah says while smiling. I shake my head, probably looking half crazy. He grabs my shoulders.
"Are you alright? You look a little...Frazzled."
I suck in a large breath, "I'm fine, Uri. I'm fine. I just... I just don't want to talk about it."
He bites his lower lip, "I know I'm no Christina, but you can talk to me." He says, looking hurt.
I sigh, "I'll see you later. I just want to get something to eat." My stomach twists in hunger.
He intertwines his left arm with my right, "Well, I'll just come with you then. Maybe then you'll tell me." We walk silently to the Cafeteria. He doesn't let go of my arm. I'm grateful for his lending hand. He pulls me to an empty table and we eat. He drops my arm and stuffs his face full of cake. I smile as his whole plate vanishes in minutes. I eat slower, but when I finish, he looks at me eagerly.
"Okay, now tell me." He demands. I close my eyes, I haven't told any of my friends anything lately. I've been kinda distant. I tell him everything, spilling my guts. He stares at me intently and listens. When I finish he raises his eyebrows.
"I think Jaden and you would be perfect together. You both have anger problems." He jokes. I punch his arm playfully.
"I do not have anger problems!" I shriek.
"Do so. I kinda have something to tell you." He says hesitantly. What isn't he saying?
"Well, last week Marlene and I had a fight. She said I was being 'unfair' to her rights to do what he wants. I don't think swinging from a rope over the Chasm really counts. I just told her she couldn't. We broke up for a few days. Then two days ago, Lynn knocks on my door. Guess why she says. Go ahead. Guess." He demands. I roll my eyes. What does she say?
He must see my confusion because he speaks.
"She said Marlene changed her mind. She didn't want to be with me. But get this. Not just me, but my whole sex as well. She meant guys in general. Lynn and Marlene are dating." He finishes. My mouth drifts open, no way. Marlene and Lynn. Dating?
"Really? I didn't take Mar for that type. She was really into you."
He shakes his head, "I did that to her, Tris. She thinks all guys are like me. Over protective. I should've said I was sorry earlier. Damn it!" He slams his hand on the table. He balls it into a fist.
"Wanna go somewhere?" He asks, his tone still angry. I don't want to upset him so I nod. He stands, grabbing both of our trays, and throws them away. He returns to me and grabs my hand. He grips it tightly.
He takes me down unfamiliar corridors and hallways. Finally, he opens a door in the middle of a bright hallway. The door creaks open and he pulls me inside.
