Chapter 44--- Puzzled

Steffany's POV.

''Will you marry me Uriel Dela Paz or should I say, Steffany Rue Villasenior Sarttori?''

Ito ang tanong na kanina pa umi-echo sa utak ko.

''I'm sorry...'' Aksidenting naibulalas ko.

Hindi 'yun ang intensyon ko. Gusto ko, gustong-gusto ko...pero.

''I-I get it. I-It's okay, I'm okay. I understand you, it's your choice and answer anyway.'' Ngumiti ito ng malungkot, kaya nasasaktan ako lalo. I need to choose.

Sabi nga ni Calex before kailangan mong magpaka-selfish para sa minamahal mo. I love Calex much and I want to be selfish, pero paano ang binitawan kong pangako sa isang tao? Nasa kalagitnaan ako ng pag-iisip ng makita ko itong bagsak ang balikat na lumalakad palayo sa'kin. NO!

''C-Cal...'' Mahina kong tawag sa kanya. Huminto naman ito pero hindi n'ya ako nilingon, kaya ako na ang kusang lumapit sa kanya.

''May tanong ako sa'yo.'' Tahimik lang ito, kaya nagpatuloy ako sa pag tanong sa kanya.

''Did you save someone...uhmm, about 5 years ago?''

''Huh?'' Nagugulohang tanong n'ya at dun lang din ito humarap sa'kin na naka kunot ang noo.

''I mean, do you remember a car accident that happened about 5 years ago?'' Ulit kong tanong sa kanya. Nawala naman ang pagkakunot ng noo nito at parang nagisip.

''I think I remember one...'' At tumitig ito sa'kin.''But I can't detail it exactly,  because it happened really fast.''

''It's okay. Kahit ano lang na maalala mo..'' I'm so eager to know about it.

''I was on my way to pick Rein---I mean Blythe...ahem.'' Bumuntong hininga muna ito bago nagsalitang muli.

''On my way I found a car, a wrecked car and it look's liked something hit that car. I check for some posibilities. Their, I saw the driver was badly hurt. I called an emergency hotline and asked for helped that time. After I gave the exact address I tried to help the poor driver because I know that he needed medical attention right away.'' Napasinghap ako ng hindi ko sinasadya, kaya umiwas nalang ako ng tingin.

An old pain started to sting in my heart. That driver, the guy he was talking to...I know him.

''I was about to get him out but suddenly he hold my arm and asked me something..'' Napatingin akong muli dahil sa sinabi nito.''He slowly shifted his head on his right side. Their was a girl with him and was about to pass out. He asked me to brought that girl to the hospital, so I made a promised to saved that girl.'' malumanay nya akong tinitigan.

''I understand him because if that happened to me and Blythe before...I'll do the same.'' Hindi ko na inintindi ang sinabi n'ya dahil ang lalaking tinutikoy n'ya ang iniisip ko.

''I know that the emergency unit is on its way and as a promised I brought the girl to the nearby hospital. But after that, I have no idea on what happened to them. I didn't even bother to asked someone or go and pay a visit to that hospital where I brought them.'' Nagkibilit balikat lang ito pagkatapos.

''Why are you asking me that? I'm supposed to be emotional by now 'caused you dumped my proposal…big time! Damn!'' Parang naiinis nitong sabi, kaya natawa nalang ako.

''What's funny?!''

''You! I didn't dumped you, idiot!'' Kumunot naman ang noo nito kaya niyakap ko ito.
