"And you're gonna sit with him at lunch again?"
"Yeah, unless he made new friends.. Kristen said that I needed to be more open with making friends. And Harry's also really cute," Louis giggled into the phone, playing with a strand that hung off his cotton candy pink crop top.
"Hm, so you like this boy?"
"Um, yeah, a little. Is that bad, Li? To start a friendship off with a crush?"
"I don't think so. He probably likes you back. He called you pretty, remember?"
"He might've just been saying that to be nice," I said, yet blushed remembering the dazed stare Harry gave him when he first set eyes on him.
"Whatever you say, Lou. I need to go, but I'll see you Monday?"
"Yeah, see you," Louis hung up.
He went over to his fluffy bed and lounged on it, reading a book, until he heard someone walk into the house. Louis padded down the stairs in his thick, striped socks and was met with the sight of his dad coming in from work, shaking the rain off his umbrella.
"Hey, dad, how was your day?" Louis attempted conversation.
"It's work, Louis, not the most exciting thing," he took off his large coat and hung it up.
"Well, since you're there all the time, it might as well be," Louis mumbled.
His dad closed his eyes and sighed, "Lou..."
"It's been almost a year since you've called me that."
He rubbed his face with one large, calloused hand and looked at him, "I- What are you wearing?"
"It's called a crop top, dad, it's cute," Louis tugged it down a bit as his dad eyed the exposed skin.
"You're a bit too... young to wear that, don't you think?"
"I'm almost eighteen, I can wear it just fine," Louis chewed on his lip.
"Okay," he sighed once more and started to walk towards his room.
"Hey, dad, wait," Louis watched him pause and turn his gaze towards him. "Do you want to watch a movie or something with me? I could hook up my laptop to the tv and we can watch whatever you want, I don't care."
"Look, son, I'm really beat down, I'm gonna go rest. Maybe next time."
"That's fine, dad."
He disappeared into his room and Louis slid down to sit on the staircase, resting his head against the railing.
"Next time," he whispered, letting out a shuddered exhale.
