When Monday came around, Harry didn't sit with him at lunch.

Louis saw him across the cafeteria with the rugby team. He had made a lot of new friends since he'd joined, and Louis was happy for him since he doesn't exactly attract a lot of positive attention.

It still made him a bit upset since he thought maybe Harry like him, even as just a friend, but he guesses that was his fault for being delusional.

"Hey, Louis," Liam took a bite of his pizza slice, "You okay?"

"Huh?" He snapped out of his Harry-induced trance.

"You haven't said anything this whole time... What are you upset about?"

"It's nothing," Louis sipped at his apple juice. "I just... thought Harry would sit with me at lunch today, is all. That's so stupid, I sound like a kindergartener."

"C'mon, that's not that stupid," he slung his arm around Louis. "Forget him and his new friends. Now it's just you and me, buddy."

"And Sophia," Louis rolled his eyes playfully as he noticed her winking at Liam across the table, "You know you guys can just talk instead of doing this weird facial communication thing."

"But that's no fun," Liam sighed, "Don't worry about Jerry, babe, he wasn't that cute. He kind of looked like a frog to me."

"Shut up," he giggled, stealing one of his fries.

Louis was gathering his books after sixth period when Harry came up to him with a shy smile.

"Hey, Louis," he leaned against the wall of lockers, "How have you been?"

"Pretty good, I guess," Louis fluffed up his hair in his locker mirror, touching up his lip gloss and trying to look disinterested, "The rugby team treating you well?"

"Um, well, they're cool guys and all, but I don't know if I'd hang out with them outside of practice," Louis saw his muscles flex just slightly as he scratched the back of his neck.

He tried with all his might not to stare.

"Speaking of which," he continued, "I was wondering if you wanted to come to this thing my mom's doing? It's kind of dumb, it's like, a housewarming party and my mom wants to get to know people here better and you don't really have to go, there won't be that many people from school or anything, I just thought since I've gotten along well with you you might want to. Not saying that you don't have other plans-"

"Harry," he giggled, "I'll go. It sounds fun."

He smiled brightly, "Okay, sounds good. Ah, um, here, I'll give you my number."

Louis handed him his rose gold iPhone and he put in his number, saving it as 'Hazza'.

"Hazza," he read, "That's cute."

"Not as cute as you," Harry mumbled, eyes shooting open as soon as he realized he had said it out loud.

Louis' heart probably stopped beating right around here.

"Uh, I've gotta go," he fumbled for his car keys in his book bag, "I'll, um, see you later, Louis."

Louis couldn't really believe it, but here was Harry Styles out of all people, flustered because of him. He felt it more appropriate for him to melt into the ground in a puddle of infatuated goo after Harry had turned the corner of the hallway.
