"...and so, in these lab journals we will share our hands-on development through the experiential based learning process." Mr. Gonzalez droned on and on when Louis felt a light shove of a folded, half ripped sheet of notebook paper on his right elbow.

He curiously opened the note.

I swear this guy just memorized the chemistry textbook and recites it, I'm about to fall asleep any second.. btw you look really cute in that sweater :)

A warm smile spread out on Louis' face as he took out one of his glitter pens and wrote back.

i think he's just part robot. also, how old are you again ?? i thought people stopped passing notes in middle school. and thank you, i just got it !

Sighing softly, he stretched his back, doubly folded note in hand so he could drop it down on Harry's desk behind him.

Louis heard a shuffle and the scratch of a pencil before Harry slipped it into the back of his sweater.

"Harry!" he giggled, reaching back to pull it out before biting his lip when he noticed some of his classmates had turned to look at where the noise had come from. Louis felt his face flush as he tried to subtly unfold the note.

I'm 17, thank you very much, only about a month younger than you if you don't recall. Also you're welcome. I'd like to take you and your new sweater out for a milkshake after school today, if you don't mind me asking over a childish class note. x

And of course he didn't mind, by the way he squealed internally for an hour after saying yes.

Harry met Louis by the library after his last class of the day.

"Hey," he uncrossed his arms and adjusted the leather backpack on his right shoulder.

"Hi," Louis waved lamely, unable to contain his smile.

Harry led him down the hallway and to the student parking lot, where his obviously dated SUV was parked.

"This is your car?" Louis asked.

"Yeah," he grinned proudly. "Oh, shoot, hold on." He skipped over to the passenger's side and opened the door with a short bow. "Enchanté."

"But we've already met?" the smaller boy cocked his head to one side.

"You know, I don't actually know what that means. Just let me impress you, gosh," Harry rolled his eyes playfully at him as they settled into the pleather car seats.

'Oh god,' Louis thought. 'He said he wants to impress me.'

"Where are you taking me?" Louis asked, attempting to look cool, calm, and collected as he fiddled with the beaded bracelet Amelie got him from when she went to Mexico City.

"This diner I went to when I first got here. I really liked it," he started the car and turned up the radio slightly. "I think it's called Stanley's?"

"Oh, I remember going there when I was little. I didn't know they had milkshakes... I wish I had a car so I could go out to eat more," Louis replied.

"Do you drive?" Harry glanced over at him and Louis noticed how a stray ray of sunlight made his eyes look greener.

"No, not yet," Louis shrugged. "My dad said he's going to teach me, but he hasn't had the time."

"Oh," he pouted slightly. "My step dad taught me. He used to be a truck driver, actually, so I learned a lot of cool things about when he was on the road."

"Yeah? Like what, how to avoid running over baby deer?"

"He actually has a lot of cool stories," he smirked at Louis, making him swoon for just a second. "Stick around and maybe I'll tell you."
