Louis remembers watching Titanic with Kristen when he was twelve years old.

She had already warned him of the sad ending, because he's never minded spoilers that prevent heartbreak, but she never told him how much it'd hurt to see Jack and Rose fall in love.

It reminded Louis of the way his father looked at his mother, the way Kristen looked at Amelie, but most importantly, the way no one looked at him like that. His eyes were glued to Kate Winslet as his emotions went from loving admiration of her elegance and beauty to a nagging jealousy for winning the affections of the ruggedly handsome Jack.

"He could do so much better," Louis grumbled, shoveling more cookie dough into his mouth.

"Yeah, I mean, there was room left on the freakin' door!" Kristen waved her hand around. "They could've at least taken turns."

"Exactly. So greedy. I would never do that to a guy like him," Louis sighed dreamily.

"Oh, right, I forgot you're at the age where you're starting to go boy crazy," she said, sipping her diet Coke. "Can't relate."

"I'm not boy crazy!" he had pouted, offended.

"Aw, baby Lou Lou, don't worry," she shoved his head under her chin and stroked his hair in an exaggerated motion. "Your time will come."

"Don't call me that!" Louis had laughed, squirming away from her, but deep down, he wasn't laughing, because preteen Louis didn't think the time would ever come.

But thank the holy Celine Dion he was wrong.
