Yazmin couldn't contain the jitters she felt within her body as she walked out of the washroom and made her way down the hall. She felt as if the walls were closing in on her. Quickly, she stormed into the room and looked around until she found her group of friends. They were no longer at their table and were now on the dance floor joking around. She gulped nervously and took long strides towards the group. She plastered a fake smile on her face.
"Nyla," Sean called out. "You okay? You were in there for a while." He looked at her with concern.
"Yeah, I'm alright. I was just having a little dress malfunction." She nodded quickly. "But, I wanted to–"
"We were waiting on you, girl." Benji wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "We were gonna go chill at the beach about an hour from here. You down?"
Sean shook his head and took a sip of his drink.
"Yeah, it's getting kind of dead here," Alex said as she looked around.
"Yeah, that's fine."
The group of teenagers headed out of the building and went their separate ways. Sean started up the car and quickly drove out of the parking lot.
"I can drive if you've drunk too much."
"I only had two shots and I drank a lot of water to sober up when you were gone."
He wasn't much of a lightweight either, but Yazmin was still a bit weary.
She leaned back into her seat and looked out of the window. The silence between the couple along with the low music coming from the speakers eased her mind from what was to come. Slowly, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Suddenly, the car came to a halt. Yazmin slowly opened her eyes and looked around. They were just entering the parking lot of the beach.
"We're here already?" She said groggily.
Sean chuckled, "You've been out like a light for the whole hour ride."
"It felt like ten minutes," She laughed.
Sean helped her out of the car and headed into the trunk to grab a few blankets. He took off his suit and placed it onto Yazmin's shoulders. She smiled with her eyes closed as she felt his lips against her cheek. They waited out until the rest of the group came before they all walked onto the boardwalk.
The group of girls spread out the blankets onto the sand. Alex grabbed the shopping bags that were filled with more alcoholic coolers, water and snacks. The boys decided to start a mini fire since it was colder near the water.
"How was the ride with Drake?" Yazmin wiggled her eyebrows playfully.
Alex smacked her lips, "Ew. I went to sleep and the rest of them went to get the snacks."
Sean grabbed his lighter from his pocket and started the fire.
Once the boys started the fire and the blankets were placed around it, everyone took their seats. Sean looked around and tucked his hands into his pockets. He looked down at Yazmin as she began to sit next to Alex.
"Wanna go on a walk?"
She smiled up at him and nodded, "Let's go."
"Y'all we'll be right back."
Yazmin grabbed his hand and walked next to him. She looked out in the ocean, the sound of the waves calmed her. They walked over to the large rocks alongside the gates of the beach and took a seat. Sean wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
