An Arrangement was Made

Chapter 17: Reigns

Sera was making herself some morning tea when she heard her phone ring. It was too early for anyone in heaven to be bothering her, there was no pressing business in heaven. This had to be a call from Charlie. She picked up her phone with no real urgency and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey Sera. We found Adam"

"Really? Where was he?"

"He was in the Wrath ring. That's the ring right below Pride."

"Have you gotten him back home yet?"

"No. I've tried talking to him multiple times but he's not cooperating. He even refused to go back to heaven. It's gotten to the point that he just flies away whenever he sees me. I don't know what to do."

Sera sighed. That sounded like him alright. Even without free will he still managed to make himself such a pain.

"Put him on the phone, I'll talk to him."

'Ugh, she's back again.' Adam had gotten real tired of Charlie camping out near his water source to pester him about going back to Pride. She had tried bringing him little gifts like salt and other useful supplies, but Adam remained unconvinced. What part of the word 'No' did she not understand? He had moved his camp elsewhere but he still needed to come back here for water.

He wished he could just kill her and be done with it but then both Sera and Lucifer would be mad at him. Even just attacking her would make them both mad. The last thing he wanted to deal with right now was the headache that was the devil. He was such an annoying little pain. Whatever. She would get tired of bothering him eventually.

He landed next to the water rock and started filling up his water bottle. He tried to ignore the demon princess who was trying to talk to him again.

"Adam-"

"For the last time, the answer is no. I don't care that Satan doesn't want me here, I don't care if life is more cushy in the hotel, I don't care about the responsibilities Sera gave me, I don't care! I do not care! You got what you wanted out of this, now leave me the hell alone!"

"...Sera wants to talk to you."

Adam tensed. He forced himself to relax. Sera wasn't here. She wouldn't come down here. He turned around to face Charlie, an unimpressed glare on his face. Charlie was holding her phone out to him. Sera's contact was on the screen. Adam accepted the phone. Sera's voice came from the other end of it.

"Adam-" Adam chucked it as far as he could throw it. He dusted his hands off. She couldn't see him down here so as long as he couldn't hear her she couldn't give him any orders.

Charlie felt so helpless and angry. Adam smirked at her which only made her more mad. Charlie's eyes turned red and a pair of horns emerged from her head as her demon form poked through a little.

"Awww, is the little princess angy?"

That was it. Satan was done with this guy. He wanted him out of his ring. Satan took aim and blew a hole through the side of Adam's neck.

"WHAT THE-OW!" The wound spurted blood for a moment, but closed up just as quickly as it had been put there. Though no wound could ever be fatal to an angel, they still hurt pretty bad. Adam quickly identified where the bullet had come from.

"THAT'S IT! ALL BETS ARE OFF!"

He summoned his ax and took to the air to kill this bitch.Satan got out two different guns and unloaded both magazines. Adam either dodged or blocked all the shots with ease. Adam dive bombed Satan as he was unloading. Satan managed to avoid his attack and hit him with a splatter shot to the wing.
