Adam felt terrible. He knew that he might've been going a little too far when he touched her, but he didn't think she'd get THAT mad. Charlie was right. She'd stuck up for him and he'd been a huge ass to her anyway. That wasn't fair.

Why did he do that? Even if she hadn't been mad, it wasn't that funny anyway. She thought he was a total pervert. She had plenty of reason to think that. She had always thought him unreasonable. She'd always thought him sexist. She'd always thought him perverted, controlling, spoiled, stupid, and a number of other horrible things. And he'd proven her right at every single turn.

Adam spent the rest of the day in his room. He ate everything in his fridge, which only served to make him feel ashamed of his own body. His weight didn't feel like a choice anymore. Not a true choice anyway. He saw it for what it was now. Gluttony. Addiction. He wasn't any better than that stupid porn star. He was probably worse.

He had gained a ton of weight almost immediately after entering heaven. He had justified it at the time by telling himself he deserved it. He had been unjustly punished for Eve's decisions. He deserved to eat until he made himself sick. But he never stopped.

The food in heaven was significantly healthier than food in hell. Now that he was living here full time, what would he look like if he kept up his usual habits? He could taste something in every piece of it that wasn't right. Every single piece of food told him you need me. That wasn't normal. He wanted to stop, but he didn't. He couldn't. Not until everything was gone. He felt so pathetic. He wasn't in control of himself anymore and he had no one to blame for it. It was like being ordered except that he knew at any time he could stop. He just didn't.

How could I? How am I supposed to learn to control myself without free will? He told himself. He knew that was cope. He was just weak.

It was getting late now. It had been hours. He tried to ignore the pit in his stomach, but it wasn't going away. No matter what he did or what he watched, he couldn't numb himself all the way. He had to do something. This wasn't going to go away on its own. It would probably get worse if he left it alone.

He needed Charlie to not be mad at him. He needed that. He didn't really know why he cared so much. He still didn't really like her. He still thought she was stupid. It was mostly her fault he was down here anyway. If she had just left well enough alone, none of this would've happened. Even still though, he didn't like her being mad at him. Not when they had no choice but to interact.

Something's familiar here.

He had to smooth this over in whatever way he could. There had to be something he could do. Food. Food usually made people feel better. He couldn't remember his disagreements with Eve very well. He was certain they had plenty, but the details eluded him. He remembered that they usually ended with Adam serving her physically or getting food for her. Charlie definitely didn't want to have sex with him so leveraging his body was out of the picture. That left food. That would be hard though. Charlie was a princess. She didn't need someone to hunt for her. She could buy as much food as she wanted and anything else for that matter.

Killing something for her to eat would just make more work for her. She probably didn't even know how to butcher any kill he presented her with. There was also a chance that she was so rich and so sissy that she didn't eat meat at all. Presenting her with a dead animal could be misconstrued as an insult or a threat.

Adam wished that he had learned to cook. It hadn't ever been a priority before. Why would he cook when he had Eve? He was always so exhausted after a hunt that he'd never even considered cooking. And why would he cook in heaven when he could just order whatever he wanted? The only thing he knew how to make was bread! She had plenty of bread! She didn't need more bread.
