"San," he called out, his voice sending a shiver down her spine.
She froze for a second before mustering the courage to approach him, her cheeks already burning from the way he was looking at her. "H-Hi," she stammered, silently cursing her nerves.
Taehyung's smile widened, but it faltered for a fleeting second as his gaze swept over her. His eyes widened slightly, and his expression shifted-surprise flickering in his features, almost as if he had seen a ghost.
"San..." he murmured again, but this time, his tone carried something deeper. Disbelief? Recognition?
She noticed the subtle change, her nerves tightening. "What?" she asked cautiously, suddenly self-conscious. "Is there something wrong?"
He shook his head slowly, still staring at her as though trying to piece together a puzzle. "No, it's just... it's really you," he said softly, almost to himself.
San frowned, her heart thudding. "What do you mean?"
Taehyung let out a breathy laugh, running a hand through his hair. "We've met before," he said, his voice low but certain. "A few days ago. We met here two days ago; we were the only ones on the bridge"
Her confusion deepened. "Was that you?" she said, as she got a glimpse of that night, still shocked.
He nods. With a smile.
They stood there, and the reality of the moment hit her all at once. She was here, on a quiet bridge, meeting him. The boy who had unknowingly stolen her heart with his kindness, humor, and the way he always seemed to know what to say to make her smile.
"Are you cold?" he asked suddenly, noticing her slight shiver.
"A little," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Without hesitation, he shrugged off his coat and draped it over her shoulders. "Better?"
San blinked up at him, stunned. "You didn't have to-"
"Don't worry about it," he said with a soft smile. "I'm fine."
She pulled the coat tighter around herself, the warmth of it-and him-making her heart race even faster.
"So," he said after a moment, leaning casually against the railing, "are you always this quiet, or am I making you nervous?"
Her eyes widened, and she laughed awkwardly, covering her face with her hands. "Oh, well I'm a bit nervous. This is our first time meeting, and... and I don't know what to say. You're-you're you, and I'm just me, and ahm _"
"Hey," he interrupted gently, his laughter bubbling up. "Relax. It's just me. We've talked a million times before."
"Not like this," she mumbled, as she felt heat coming out of her face.
Taehyung grinned, leaning in slightly. "Well, for the record, you're doing great. And for what it's worth, I was nervous too."
"You? Nervous?" she asked, disbelief coloring her voice.
"Yeah," he admitted, scratching the back of his neck. "I mean, meeting you in person... it's a big deal."
Her heart swelled at his words, and for the first time that evening, she let herself relax.
"How is everything going?" he said softly with a smile.
"Hmm, my research is going great and everything here is ok". She spoke.
Taehyung leaned casually against the railing, watching San with a warm smile as she rambled about her research. Her lively tone, the way her hands moved as she talked-it all made his heart feel a little lighter. But he couldn't ignore the real question that lingered in the back of his mind.
