San finished reading the diary entry. She didn't realize she'd been smiling the entire time. Her lips ached from the curve, and a warmth spread through her chest as she remembered the girl who used to dream about moments like these.
The light, genuine sound of her own laughter—a sound she hadn't made in weeks—had just faded when her phone buzzed on the couch. It was Taehyung.
"I'm coming home," he said, his voice calm. "Guess who is with me?" San asked him, "Who?"
"PIHU."
"She insisted we come straight home, so we'll be there in twenty minutes."
San's breath hitched. Pihu. Her sister. The fiercely dramatic, relentlessly cheerful, and utterly beloved sister she hadn't seen in what felt like years. "Oh god, Pihu," San muttered, feeling a welcome surge of energy. "It feels like years."
A bright, excited smile appeared on her face. She quickly took the twins, Suho and Taesan, and carried them into the living room, setting them in their rockers near the window just as the doorbell rang.
San smoothed her hair and opened the door.
In an instant, a powerful, scented blur struck her.
It was Pihu. She was an unstoppable force. San staggered back, momentarily losing her balance as Pihu's arms wrapped around her tightly.
"SAN! I missed you so much! How are you, how, how, how?!" Pihu's voice was a high-pitched, emotional squeal, muffled against San's neck.
Before San could even catch her breath to reply, Pihu pulled back, eyes wide, and rushed past her like a hurricane. "Leave it. Where are the babies?"
"BABIES! Your Mumma is here! Oh my god, where are my babies?! Baby, where are you hiding?!" Pihu screamed with dramatic fervor, already halfway to the living room.
San stood frozen in the doorway, staring after the empty space Pihu had just occupied. "What... the hell," she mumbled, bewildered. Then she turned to Taehyung, who leaned against the doorframe, overloaded with luggage and two large airport shopping bags.
He offered her a tired, resigned smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes. He knew this storm well. He had spent three years learning that Pihu was his complete, charmingly savage sister-in-law.
San took the bags from him. "I didn't even get a proper greeting," she whispered, shaking her head.
"It's fine, love. She had already declared that the babies will be hers before they were even born," he chuckled softly, brushing her shoulder. "I'll take these in. She's in a race against time to meet the children she claims as her own."
Inside, Pihu was already cooing loudly over the twins, making faces that San knew the babies couldn't even understand yet. "I don't do greetings, San. Jiju!" Pihu called out, still not looking away from the rockers. "Oh my god, they are just like you! Your eyes, Jiju! You cloned yourself!"
Taehyung nodded slowly, carrying the bags to the bedroom. "Yeah, I know," he murmured, heading for the stairs.
The maid arrived with a tray of water. San took a glass and walked toward Pihu. "How is everyone at home, Pihu?"
Pihu took a quick sip, never taking her focused attention off the babies. "They're good, San. They send their love! But honestly, I can't think about anything but these two perfect little angels." She paused, then turned to face Taehyung, who sat calmly.
"Jiju!" Pihu clapped her hands. "You and San should go spend some romantic time now. I will take care of my babies. We can bond, right babies? They have me now. So, tell me their names, by the way?"
