the bell rings, cutting through the hum of the classroom, signaling the end of yet another tedious class.
y/n gathers her things hastily, exhaustion settling on her. she slings her bag over her shoulder and heads for the door, feeling a slight sense of relief, only to be greeted by the heavy, unmistakable sound of rain splattering against the windows.
"are you kidding me?" she mutters under her breath, glaring at the gray clouds.
it had been clear just moments ago. typical.
as if on autopilot, her feet start moving, heading down the familiar corridor toward the teacher's lounge and that dreaded lost and found bin.
her heart sinks as she hears the rain pounding harder outside, and she curses the weather for ruining her plans once again.
the bin is exactly where she left it this morning. the pile of forgotten items looks unchanged, a mix of jackets, scarves, and, of course, umbrellas.
y/n hesitates for just a second before reaching for the red umbrella, the one she's been using on and off for the past few days.
but as she pulls it out, she catches a glimpse of someone out of the corner of her eye.
taesan.
he's standing just a few feet away, watching her. for a split second, she freezes, feeling a flash of discomfort. she can't place why, but she doesn't think too much about it.
he doesn't say anything. just watches her, his expression unreadable.
"what?" she asks, raising an eyebrow as she snaps the umbrella open with a little more force than necessary.
he doesn't answer.
instead, taesan just tilts his head slightly, like he's thinking, then turns on his heel and starts walking away, heading toward the exit.
y/n blinks, confused but she brushes it off.
it's nothing. it's just taesan being taesan.
with a sigh, she steps out into the rain, the umbrella protecting her a little from the harsh downpour, but it's better than nothing.
behind her, taesan watches for a moment longer, his hands shoved into his pockets. the familiar feeling of frustration bubbles up, but he swallows it down.
he had been wondering for a while now, noticing his umbrella going missing more than once. today, he found out who was behind it.
y/n had no idea, of course. she probably didn't even realize she was taking his.
but he doesn't stop her. he just watches as she walks away, her pace steady in the rain.
his umbrella was always there for the taking.
and if she wanted it so badly, well...
he lets her have it.
