"i guess i like your umbrella now. when are you planning to reveal yourself?"

that's what y/n's note read as she slipped it into the umbrella before returning it into the bin. she caught sight of taesan walking by the lounge just then, exchanging smiles. taesan's gaze lingered on her and then towards the bin. he cleared his throat, "you lost something?"

y/n blinked, caught off guard by taesan's question. for a moment, her heart skipped, but she quickly shook it off and mustered a casual shrug. "not really. just checking on something."

taesan's eyes drifted to the bin again, "you've been checking on that bin a lot lately," he noted, his voice having a hint of something behind it.

he saw me? how does he know? her cheeks warmed, but she played it cool. "i'm just making sure i don't lose anything valuable. maybe i can also find interesting things here."

taesan tilted his head, his lips twitching into a small smile. "interesting, huh?"

"yeah. people leave all kinds of things in there."

"like umbrellas?" he asked.

she narrowed her eyes at him slightly. "maybe... why? you lose one or something?"

taesan laughed softly. "no, not me. but if i did, i'd probably want to know who's been borrowing it."

the words hung in the air between them. y/n swallowed, glancing away quickly. "well, whoever's been borrowing it must have a good reason."

"or just bad manners," he quipped, the corner of his mouth twitching up in a smirk.

"depends on how you look at it," y/n shot back. she grabbed her bag, ready to end the conversation before it got too suspicious. "anyway, i should go. see you in class, taesan."

he stepped aside to let her pass, his gaze lingering on her retreating figure. taesan watched her back disappear with a smile that he wasn't able to hide.

as she walked away, y/n couldn't shake the feeling that there was something in his smile and voice.

and for the first time, the thought struck her: could it be him?
