the lounge was flooded with students. y/n hadn't planned on stopping by, especially not with so many students crowded inside, but something made her do it.

she waited until the crowd thinned a little, pretending to scroll through her phone while stealing glances toward the bin. her fingers tapped the screen aimlessly, her nerves jittering. she was curious as to what the owner's response might be.

just as she moved closer, she caught sight of a figure near the bin. they were quick, almost too quick, slipping a folded piece of paper into the umbrella's handle. y/n squinted, trying to make out who it was through the tangle of students.

taesan?

no, she couldn't be sure. the angle wasn't great, and the person disappeared into the crowd almost immediately. but something about their frame reminded her of him.

y/n stood frozen for a second, debating whether to go to the bin right then or wait until later. she didn't want to make it obvious, especially if the person was still watching.

taking a breath, she decided to play it cool. she lingered by the bulletin board, pretending to read a flyer about an upcoming event while keeping the bin in her peripheral vision. when it seemed like no one was paying attention anymore, she finally moved closer, her heart racing.

the note was there, neatly folded and waiting.

she opened it quickly, her eyes scanning the familiar handwriting.

"i should start charging you every time you steal my umbrella. 2000 won, what do you think? i might get rich thanks to you. the profit is higher than my loss."

y/n let out a small laugh despite herself, shaking her head. seriously?

her fingers hovered over the note for a moment before she tucked it into her bag and glanced around the lounge one last time. no sign of anyone watching.

but as she left, her thoughts circled back to that fleeting figure.

could it really be him?
