"maybe it's because i don't want to reply back to someone who wants to be mysterious. if you want replies, better reveal yourself. maybe then i'll consider giving you that 2000 won."
that's what y/n's note read as she returned the umbrella to the bin and returned to class for her usual boring routine.
hours went by in a flash and the rain hadn't let up all day as well. it was heavier than yesterday, a heavy downpour that made the world outside feel like it was underwater. y/n clutched her bag close as she walked toward the lounge once class finally came to an end.
this time, she wasn't just curious. she was determined. the last note had left her buzzing with impatience. if he wasn't going to reveal himself, then she'd figure it out on her own.
the lounge was quieter than usual, with only a handful of students scattered about. she saw a few interacting with some teachers while some just lingered near the lockers with their peers. y/n s stopped by the door, scanning the room. her eyes landed on the bin almost immediately, but it wasn't the bin that caught her attention. instead, it was the figure standing beside it.
a boy, tall and lean, was hunched slightly, his back to her. he seemed to be fiddling with something, his movements quick and deliberate. y/n's heart skipped. was this it? was this the moment she'd been waiting for?
her breath caught as she watched him slip something into the bin and walk away without a glance.
y/n immediately recognized the boy from the class next door.
y/n hesitated for only a second before making her way over, her pulse thrumming in her ears. the umbrella was there, as always, but when she reached for it, her fingers brushed against something unexpected.
a bottle.
her brows knitted together as she pulled it out, her confusion growing. it wasn't a note or anything remotely related to the exchanges she'd been having. it was just an empty water bottle, the kind someone might toss away without a second thought.
her gaze darted back to the boy, who was now heading out of the lounge.
y/n let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding, a mix of relief and disappointment washing over her. she placed the bottle back in the bin with a shake of her head. well, it's definitely not him. it can't be him too.
as she turned back to the umbrella, her fingers found the handle, and there it was, the familiar fold of paper tucked neatly inside. her heart leaped as she pulled it out and unfolded it quickly.
"getting impatient, are we? patience is a virtue, you know. i'll see you soon. maybe."
y/n laughed softly under her breath, her disappointment from earlier fading. whoever this was, they were having way too much fun with this.
as she slipped the note into her pocket, she glanced around the lounge one last time. no sign of anyone watching her this time.
but she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, the thought lingering as she made her way out into the rain.
this wasn't over. not yet.
