the rain had started as a light drizzle, but by the time class ended, it was pouring. y/n glanced out the window, watching the stream of water falling from the sky. she'd forgotten her umbrella again. not that it mattered now.

as she packed up her things, she heard the sound of taesan's chair scraping back. she turned, expecting him to leave like everyone else, but instead, he stood by the door, waiting.

waiting for her.

"you're not leaving?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

he shrugged, his usual lazy grin on his face. "i figured you could use some company."

"i'm fine," she said, but she couldn't hide the small spark of warmth that flared inside her at his words.

taesan raised an eyebrow, taking a step closer. "are you sure? i'm pretty sure you don't want to walk home in this."

y/n glanced at the rain, already starting to soak the pavement outside. she could feel the wet chill in the air through the window. maybe he was right.

"i'll be fine," she repeated.

taesan didn't say anything at first. instead, he reached into his bag, pulling out an umbrella and holding it up between them. "take it,"

y/n blinked at him, her heart stuttering in her chest. "you don't have to..."

"i know," he said, cutting her off, a little smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "but i want to."

she stared at him, at the way his eyes were soft.

without a word, y/n took the umbrella from him, and they stepped into the hall together. the rain was even heavier now, the sound of it filling the space as they walked in silence.

taesan walked a little closer, his shoulder brushing hers. neither of them said anything but it was comfortable between them. they reached the door, and taesan paused. "i'll walk you home," he softly said.

"you don't have to, taesan."

"but i want to."

his words left the girl speechless yet again, her cheeks tinting pink at that.

they both stepped outside, the cold air hitting them both as the rain continued to pour. taesan moved a little closer, holding the umbrella over both of them. y/n looked up at him, his face lit by the dim streetlights, his eyes on her gently.

"so, which way to your house?" taesan began, smiling at her as he guided her away from a puddle of rainwater.

y/n pointed to the left as they both began walking in that direction. her heart skipped a beat. maybe, this is the beginning of something between them.
