Jisung stuffed a piece of cheesecake into his mouth.

"....my theory..." was saying Jeongin above the noise of clattering kitchen utensils:

"...is that Jisung is a creator too"

"Huh?? Why?" asked a confused Seungmin:

"He just sets shit on fire, where does the creation part come in??"

Jeongin gave him a look of superiority:
"I'll prove it, you'll see"

Seungmin instead snorted at his mannerisms, fond:
"For sure, Innie"

But Jisung wasn't paying much attention to the conversation at all: he was so excited.

"I managed to trigger a transformation by fabricating an emotion through memories. And then I tried to hold my feral self in check. It worked....for a few minutes..."

It wasn't much, but it was a start. Little by little he was growing attuned to his power.

Plus, the fact that at the very least he recognized someone...made him feel a little better.

The fact that it was Minho of all people filled him with burning shame.

"This is a sick play at my feelings, I'm sure of it. I hope he doesn't think too much of it...Ughh"

"Jisung." a voice reached them then.

"Mh?" he turned, wiping cream cheese from his lips.

Chan stood in front of their table:

"Come with me."

A mission with Felix.

A mission.

With Felix.

Chan had really done that.

"But- but what if something goes wrong?? What if Poison guy attacks again??" Jisung had protested, looking for a way out.

"Poison guy never attacks twice in the same place, it's his pattern. Don't worry. You'll just have to retrieve some samples."

"Minho'll come right?" he had tried one last time.

"You can handle this one on your own."

As the two of them walked in awkward silence Jisung cursed Chan in his head:
"He did this on purpose, didn't he?"

Soon, they were back at the scene of the attack.
Instantly Jisung's heart sank and his brain replayed the few ragged memories he had of his transformation.

Poison in their karaoke room.
Power swishing in his veins.
A blurry picture turning into Felix crying.

He shook his head.

"You're on the job, Jisung. Focus."

He risked a glance at Felix and saw resolve in his eyes.

They got in.
Noone questioned their presence.

As they crouched down to inspect Poison guy's corrosive acid someone finally broke the tension:

"You know what I think" Felix said.

Jisung's heart stopped in his chest.
He expected the worst.

"I think Poison guy isn't actually that much of a villain"

Jisung's eyes widened:

"WhAt??"

He had expected some accusation, a demand for an apology, some cold remark but...not this.

"Oh don't make that face!" Felix grinned:

"Did you think I was upset with you? For something you literally can't control? Please, Ji..."

Jisung felt like crying.

"I mean I was a bit distressed in the moment but mostly because I didn't know how to help you and that was scary..." Felix grumbled, eyebrows furrowed:

"What does Minho have that I don't, huh?"

"Pfft-" Jisung giggled.

"WHAT?? I'M YOUR BEST FRIEND!! YOUR POWER HAS ITS PRIORITIES ALL WRONG!!"

Jisung laughed at him and Felix pushed him around and everything was back to normal.

"ANYWAY." Felix finally continued:

"I was saying. I think Poison guy isn't a villain."

Jisung arched an eyebrow:
"He tried to kill us, Lix"

"I know... but I don't think he did it on purpose." he insisted.

"What do you mean?"

Felix gathered some acid and let it drip in one of the special vials they had retrieved from Jeongin's lab: he had made them recently with Sunwoo's help.

"I think someone planted disgusting ideas so deep into his brain that he now thinks killing us is somehow ok... Manipulated him, maybe used his trauma against him, I don't know... If we could just make him understand he has the wrong idea..."

"You want to save him, don't you?"

Felix shrugged and gave him a soft look:
"All power holders have a tragic past and a difficult life ahead of them. We make mistakes, misuse our powers, hurt people... But we're still worth saving"

Jisung nodded.
He could relate to that.

"Ok. I'm with you on this one"

They locked eyes.
Smiled.
Happy that they had eachother.
