"JI! OH MY GOD, JI!"

Jisung raised his head from the matress slowly upon hearing Felix's voice.

On the bed next to him he felt Minho shift too, groaning in annoyance.

Felix finally reached their room and swung the door open:

"GUESS WHAT CHAN TOLD ME, JI??? Oh, hi Minmin. GUESS GUESS GUESS"

"Mhhh I dunno... There's cheesecake for breakfast...?" Jisung mumbled.

"NOPE!" Felix exclaimed, flopping on the bed next to him:

"YOU'RE GETTING AAAA-"

"...a?"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"

"Get to the point or let us sleep, nerd number two" Minho said, voice loud to surpass Felix's.

"...AAAAAAA.... PROMOTION!!!"

"Promotion...?"

Jisung had no clue what he was talking about.

"YEAH!"

"Already...!?" Minho answered instead.

"YUP. MY JI IS SO TALENTED!!" Felix exclaimed again, ruffling his hair with a whole lot of force.

"Liiiix" Jisung complained:
"I just washed my hair yesterday... Don't ruin it already..."

"RIGHT! Sorry. You have to look your best for the promotion stage. Aaaaaa I'm so excited. Let me help you pick an outfit, come on-"

Minho just sat up and stared as Felix and Jisung ramaged through his closet, looking for something elegant enough for him to wear on his first promotion stage.

He remembered his own first vividly.

It had been ages ago, when The Mansion had barely started functioning and only Chan and a couple of the others had attended it.

But it had still meant the world to him.

A promotion stage was where your hard work paid off.

And Jisung had worked his ass off to get here so Minho didn't even feel like complaining much.

"I wonder to what rank he'll get promoted..."

he thought as Felix pushed a purple silky shirt in Jisung's hands:
"PURPLE! LIKE YOUR POWER!"

A small bemused smile appeared on his lips.

"I'm proud of him"

"I hereby promote Han Jisung to. Higher rank."

The crowd went wild.

But Minho barely heared it, as angry as he was.

"What!? Higher rank??? After just six months of training?? Has Chan gone mad????"

"JUST WHAT WE EXPECTED FROM THE STRONGEST WARRIOR!" someone screamed next to Minho and it took him all of his willpower not to start a fight in the middle of the ceremony.

"I'm the strongest! I worked so hard for years, defeated many villains, went on so many missions but I guess that's all down the drain now, right!?"

His eyes rose to the stage, to Jisung's innocently delighted face.

"YOU."

Then he realized.

"Higher rank. Like me, Felix, Changbin and Seungmin. He'll have to fight the most powerful villains... he'll probably have to wound badly...maybe even kill again..."

Jisung's nightly pleads and cries occupied his brain once again.

"He can't even control his power yet... Can he do this without ending up even more traumatized...?"

Minho swallowed his anger.

He needed to talk to Chan.

"Higher rank, huh?" he asked instantly when he reached the head of The Strays in his office.

"Yes."

"Are you sure?"

"Most definitely. I believe that is the most appropriate decision."

Minho's eyes turned to slits as they both sat down.

"You disagree." Chan stated.

"Most definitely." Minho repeated.

"I have my reasons, you know."

"Well, I'd like to hear them"

"Allright."

Chan crossed his arms and started explaining:

"Jisung has an improving rate higher than anyone you've ever seen, does he not?"

Minho nodded.

"In less than a month he'll surpass Seungmin, then come for Felix's level. Promoting him to lower or mid rank just to promote him again mere weeks later is nothing but a waste of time."

"Ok. I get that." Minho stated:
"But what about the experience?? That boy hasn't seen any real fight yet, do you really think he can handle it?"

Chan arched an eyebrow:
"Are you worried?"

Minho jumped at the insinuation:
"No?? I'm just asking." he lied shamelessly.

"Ok." Chan sighed:
"My senses tell me that he's ready. Besides. Do you really think the lower or mid ranks can handle him?"

Minho's eyes widened.
He imagined the panic his power would cause. Those weaker and innocent trainees being pushed away by Jisung's shockwaves, unable to deal with them... the amount of damange that it could potentially cause.

"Wether you like it or not, Jisung's power alone is enough to skyrocket him to higher ranks or even above. He's a bit like a ticking bomb if you will. I don't want any casualties. And I'm sure only my higher rank warriors can handle him. So yes, this is the best decision in my opinion."

Minho took everything in and sighed.

"So what? You'll send him to higher rank missions too?"

Chan smiled:
"Well yes. You'll be by his side so I'm not worried at all."

Minho blushed slightly at the veiled compliment and grumbled:
"Fine. God, you're annoying when you're right."

Having said that, he finally left Chan alone.

"Why bother lying to me when you know I can sense people's feelings...?"
was the boss' final statement to the closed door.
