The next evening Jisung and Minho exited the bus in front of a train station.
As soon as he stepped off, Minho lighted a cigarette.
Jisung just watched the smoke fly into the grey sky in awe, anxiety and excitement stirring in his belly.
"My first mission..."
That morning he had woken up to the bells as usual, but in a pile of bodies. The unfamiliar weight around him had scared him at first and he had thought...
"Am I still dreaming...?"
But then Felix had groaned from his lap and a wave of relief had flooded his insides. He had looked at that sweet scrunched up face, all the freckles mixing up with eachother and a tiny smile had appeared on his face.
" 'Morning, lazy asses" had then announced Minho from the door and his peace had broken.
In its place, that pulsing thump of anxiety and excitement had settled.
"Here" Minho had said as they prepared for their mission:
"It's a suit prototype Jeongin made. It should withstand your shockwaves, just in case"Jisung had taken the heavy fabric in his hands and felt his heart swell with gratitude: they barely knew eachother and yet Jeongin had wasted his precious time making something for him.
"I'll have to thank him as soon as we come back..."
He had worn it proudly under a black shirt tucked into a gray tracksuit.
"Wear comfy and dark. This is a night trip." Minho had explained.
Now Jisung stared at the building in front of them and tried not to throw up. His nervousness was going crazy.
Minho let the cigarette rest between index and middle finger:
"Come on, let's go" he said with a sigh.Jisung followed after Minho's strong back and focused on the feeling of safety he gave him.
"We'll be guarding a freight train" the ex-teacher explained:
"Chan's vision showed an attack so we've been sent to ensure the merchandise isn't stolen or destroyed"They walked side by side into the empty station: it actually looked more like a warehouse, filled with spare wagons and crates. With everything shrouded in darkness it came off as extremely creepy.
An expensive looking man was waiting for them in front of the train. Minho talked to him for a while as Jisung hovered around, trying to listen closely to everything.
"...contains machinery needed for our factories in the south..."
"...already tried to steal..."
"...mid containers..."
"...bridge around half of the journey..."
"...communicate and..."
Jisung twisted his hands together. Just what was he getting into? How dangerous would this be? Would he get hurt? Would he have to hurt others? How much? And what if everything just...went wrong?
"Jisung" Minho called him that second:
"Get your shit together, you're shaking" he whispered so only he could hear.Jisung's breath caught:
"Oh. Sorry."The older thanked the man and guided Jisung towards the mid containers.
"Who was that guy?" he asked as they boarded the train.
"The company's CEO" Minho answered:
"Chan has been in contact with him a while. All the stuff he makes is extremely sensible and expensive, prone to theft. So well, when they suspect power holders may be at the scene they pay Chan to send some of us to protect their assets. Just so you know, they pay a lot for our services. So don't fuck up."Jisung got lost in Minho's stone cold stare and barely even noticed when the train started moving, too busy getting overwhelmed by horror.
