At the Gabba, Victoria defeated Queensland in pink-ball cricket after Campbell Kellaway struck his first Sheffield Shield century.
On the third day, Queensland struggled to a score of 58 for 3, needing to reach 329 to win. The first innings score of 186 for Victoria was below par, as Kellaway made a seven-ball duck. However, the 22-year-old was in a league of his own in the second innings, helping the visitors get back into the game with a 154-run opening partnership with Marcus Harris.
Victoria reached a leading 439 thanks to the helpful knocks of Tom Rogers, Matt Short, and Peter Handscomb.
In response, Queensland were 32 for 2 when Bryce Street was dismissed for 7 after losing Matt Renshaw for a duck to 40-year-old veteran Peter Siddle in the opening over of their run chase.
While sprinting with the ball's flight from slip to haul in a top-edged pull, Angus Lovell put up a fight, but Short's incredible one-handed catch sent him packing.
Harris was caught at slip off Lovell's bowling as Victoria began day three with 122 without loss in their second innings, but Kellaway continued to work hard and score his first Shield century.
In the last over before the dinner break, Kellaway was bowled by Street, ending his 175-ball innings that included 14 boundaries.
In an attempt to penetrate Victoria's formidable batting lineup, Queensland employed eight bowlers, but they were unable to make much inroads.
