Mohammed Shami has been sidelined since November of last year due to an ankle ailment, and he is still not playing.
Shami had stated that he has begun bowling at his "100%" and that the "results are good" during an event last month. He was left off of Bengal's roster for the upcoming Ranji Trophy matches against Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
When Abhimanyu Easwaran is abroad in Australia, Anustup Majumdar, the seasoned batter, will continue to captain India A against Australia A. Along with Akash Deep, who hasn't participated in the Ranji Trophy yet due to his involvement with the India Test team, Abhimanyu's state teammates Abishek Porel and Mukesh Kumar are also on that tour.
