Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has Nitish Kumar Reddy and Travis Head in the bag. After a fantastic season in which they finished second, behind champions Kolkata Knight Riders, both players will remain with the team.
Together with Pat Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhishek Sharma, Head and Nitish are part of the team that the Chennai Marans have kept. The five retentions have cost Sunrisers a total of INR 75 crore thus far.
Travis Head, 31, who established a strong opening pair with Abhishek Sharma the previous season, has agreed to be retained for INR 14 crore, according to sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was purchased by SRH in Dubai last year for INR 6.80 core during the previous season.
According to Cricbuzz's October 16 report, Cummins, who is expected to head the squad once more, has agreed to stay for INR 18 crore, while Klaasen was signed for INR 23 crore. Sharma was paid INR 14 crore to be kept.
The Sunrisers will have their left-handed opening pair, who together amassed 599 runs in 13 innings at a scorching strike rate of 13.21 runs per over, with Head (31) kept in place. The Australian himself scored 567 runs in 15 games at an incredible strike rate of 191.5. Last year, he kept his average at a solid 40.50.
At a cost of INR 6 crore, Nitish has made the decision to remain in Hyderabad. According to BCCI rules, a team forfeits INR 75 Cr from its budget if it decides to keep five capped players. This money may then be allocated however the team sees right. Even if a franchise decides to go above the 75 Cr cap, the extra sum will be subtracted from the rest of their revenue.
According to BCCI criteria, Nitish would have been eligible for a fee of just Rs 4 crore in the absence of the India cap. However, Nitish (21) has been making waves since making his debut for India earlier this month. The Andhra all-rounder is presently traveling to Australia with the Indian team to compete in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He could be the next Hardik Pandya, according to the selectors.
Sunrisers have fulfilled the allotted quota of five capped retentions in accordance with BCCI regulations. In order to assemble the team for the upcoming three seasons, the team will now have INR 45 crore, and they will have one RTM to purchase an uncapped player.
