Sydney Thunder Women vs. Brisbane Heat Women

Sydney Thunder defeated Brisbane Heat by 19 runs in Perth thanks to four wickets taken by left-arm spinner Samantha Bates following Heather Knight's 59* off 34 deliveries. The Heat have now dropped three of their last five games, while the Thunder have won three of their last four games to maintain their lead in the WBBL points standings.

Thunder had a strong showing from the top four before Bates could weave her web around the pursuing side. Before Phoebe Litchfield (40 off 25) and Heather Knight (59* off 34) switched gears in a 57-run stand, off 37 deliveries, Chamari Athapaththu (33 off 25) and Georgia Voll (22 off 22) gave the side a strong start. The two hit 17 fours between them. Knight, who hit Grace Parsons for four boundaries in the 18th over, gave Thunder a boost in the last overs after Litchfield was removed in the 16th over. Thunder finished with a total of 170/5 after scoring 34 runs in the final three overs.

Early advances by Taneale Peschel and Hannah Darlington put the chasing team on 35/2 in the fifth over. In an effort to increase the scoring rate, opener Grace Harris and Charlie Knott quickly formed a relationship. However, that effort was short-lived as Peschel dismissed Harris on 41 at the midway point. Six hitters fell for single-digit scores as Athapaththu (2–33) and Bates (4–25) proceeded to run through the middle and lower-order. Shabnim Ismail ended Heat's response on 151, 19 short of the mark, after dismissing Parsons in the last over.

Brief Scores: Sydney Thunder Women 170/5 in 20 overs (Heather Knight 59*, Phoebe Litchfield 40; Jess Jonassen 3-22) beat Brisbane Heat Women 151 in 19.1 overs (Charli Knott 55, Grace Harris 41; Samantha Bates 4-25, Taneale Peschel 2-23, Chamari Athapaththu 2-33) by 19 runs
