Chapter 20: first scan

Today is charlottes and autumns first ultrasound scan autumn is now 10 weeks and they are planning on getting everyone round to tell all together they are going to get Kasey and Gracie special made t-shirts that say 'big sister' with the ultrasound picture on them and get them to reveal them after dinner.

Charlotte and autumn wake up early charlottes mum is coming round to watch the girls while they go for their ultrasound appointment since it's the weekend. "We get to see our little bean for the first time today." Autumn says and rests her hand on her stomach. "I know my love I can't believe your 10 weeks already." Charlotte says resting her hand on top of autumns. They get dressed and go get the girls up and tell them to get dressed. Autumn and Charlotte go down stairs and make the girls a quick and easy breakfast the girls come down and eat their breakfast once they finish they go into the living room and wait for Charlottes mum.

A few minutes later there's a knock at the door. "I'll get it." Kasey says and opens the door. Charlottes mum walks in. "Hi my Charlie, hi autumn." Hannah says. "Hi mum." Charlotte says. "Hi ma." Autumn says and Hannah goes into the living room with the girls. Autumn and Charlotte get their shoes on. "Right mum we're going we'll be back soon." Charlotte says from the door. "Okay see you soon." Hannah says from the living room. Autumn and Charlotte get in the car and drive to the hospital. After a 30 minute drive they arrive at the hospital. "Hello how may I help you?" The receptionist says. "We have an ultrasound." Autumn says. "Names?" The receptionist says and looks at them. "Autumn and Charlotte knight." Charlotte says. "Ah yes if you'd like to take a seat the doctor nurse will call you soon." The receptionist says and autumn and Charlotte go to sit down.

"Mrs and Mrs knight." Charlotte and autumn hear being called and the recognise the voice they look up and see Vivian. They stand up and walk towards her. "Viv." Charlotte says. "Charlotte, autumn follow me." Vivian says. They follow Vivian into the room. "So who's carrying baby knight then." Vivian asks smiling at her friends. "Autumn is carrying our little knight." Charlotte says. "Please don't say anything we're telling everyone tonight they're all coming to ours for dinner we didn't realise you were working today but you and Siobhan should come too." Autumn says. "I won't say a word and we'll be there." Vivian says. "Autumn jump up on to the bed and lift the bottom of your top for me please." Vivian adds. Autumn lays down on the bed and lifts the bottom of her top and Charlotte sits on the chair next to autumn and holds her hand. "This is going to be cold." Vivian says and autumn just nods. Vivian looks at the screen. "And there's the heartbeats." Vivian's says and smiles. "H-heartbeats?" Autumn says. Vivian turns the screen. "There's baby A and there's baby B." Vivian points at the screen. "Twins?!" Charlotte says. Autumn looks at the screen and then looks back at Charlotte. "We're having twins." Autumn whispers to Charlotte happily with tears in her eyes.

"We are darling." Charlotte says and kisses autumn's forehead. "Can we get the picture please." Autumn asks Vivian. "Yes of course let's get your stomach cleaned and I'll print it off for you." Vivian says and cleans the gel off autumn's stomach and prints the picture giving it to them in an envelope. They thank Viv and leave the hospital they drive into town and go to get the girls t-shirts made for tonight and drive back home.

They arrive back home and open the door. "We're back." Charlotte says walking into the living room with autumn. "Mum,mama." The girls say and run to them. "Hi girls have you been good for nana." Autumn says. "Oh they've been little angles." Hannah says. They sit with the girls and Hannah and watch a few films together. Autumn checks the time and it's 6:00pm. "My sweet we best start preparing dinner everyone will be here at 7:30." Autumn says. Charlotte and autumn go into the kitchen and start cooking and getting everything set up. "Girls come here please." Charlotte says from the kitchen and the girls go into the kitchen. "Go put these on under your jackets and zip them up to cover the t-shirt and when me and mama announce we have something to tell everyone then unzip your jackets." Charlotte says so only the girls and autumn hear her and the girls take the bag and run upstairs. Once the girls have put their t-shirts on they go back into the living room with their jackets zipped all the way up and the doorbell goes. Hannah answers. "Hi everyone come on in." She says letting everyone in. "Food will be ready in a minute." Autumns says and they all go sit at the table ready to eat.

Once the food is ready Charlotte and autumn join everyone at the table and they all eat Charlotte and autumn look at each other and then back to everyone else. "So we have something to tell you all." Charlotte and autumn say. Kasey and Gracie stand up they look at me and autumn and we nod they unzip their jackets. "Big sisters to twins." Marjorie reads the t-shirts and puts her hands over her mouth. "Wait what." Everyone exclaims. "We're expecting twins in April next year." Charlotte says. "Who's carrying." Reece asks. "I'am big brother." Autumn says and puts her hands on her stomach. "Aut I'm so happy for you both you're going to be amazing mums you already are to Kasey and Gracie." Reece says. Everyone else is still shocked apart from Vivian. "Did you know?" Siobhan looks at her girlfriend and asks. "Yes darling I did their ultrasound this morning." Vivian says. Everyone congratulates them and hugs them. "Thank you everyone we're over the moon and the girls can't wait." Autumn and Charlotte say.

Everyone goes home after staying and talking for a few hours and the girls are in bed fast asleep autumn and Charlotte are in their bed watching a film and Charlotte has her arms wrapped around autumn's stomach and autumn wraps her arms around charlottes waist. "I love you autumn knight." Charlotte says. "I love you more Charlotte knight." Autumns says and pulls Charlotte into a kiss and they soon fall asleep in each other's arms.
