Matteo crossed his arms, leaning against the wall outside my bedroom.

His face was hard, but his voice was steady. "Julian, you can't kill Lorenzo."

I let out a bitter laugh, running a hand through my hair. "And why the fuck not?"

"Because it's not that simple," Matteo said firmly. "You take him out, and you'll have an army of his men hunting us down. Lorenzo's too powerful. It's not just him—it's the people he works with. You're talking about sparking a full-on war."

"I don't give a fuck about a war!" I snapped, my voice rising. "He almost killed Sabrina, Matteo! Do you understand that? She would've died if we'd been one second later."

Matteo's jaw tightened, his calm demeanor cracking slightly. "But she didn't die, Julian. She's alive. She's here."

I took a step closer, my fists clenched. "Alive? You call this alive?"

My voice broke slightly, but I didn't care. "She flinches every time I move. She won't let me touch her without trembling. She hasn't smiled once since we brought her home. She's... terrified."

Matteo sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck. "I know, man. But you killing Lorenzo won't erase what happened. If anything, it'll make things worse. For her. For us. You think she'll feel safer knowing you've got a target on your back?"

I turned away, pacing the hallway. His words made sense, but the anger boiling inside me refused to settle.

Every time I closed my eyes, all I could see was Sabrina tied up, beaten, and bleeding. All because of me.

"He killed her on the inside, Matteo," I said, my voice low but laced with venom. "He didn't just hurt her—he destroyed her. You didn't see her, man. You didn't see the fear in her eyes when I found her. The way she—" I stopped, my throat tightening.

Matteo's calm exterior cracked, and he yelled, stepping closer to me. "You think I don't know what it feels like? Lorenzo came after Val too! Do you not remember what they did to her?"

His words hit me like a truck, but I didn't back down. "Of course I remember!" I shot back, my voice rising. "You think I forgot? I beat Marco within an inch of his life because of it. That's why we need to take Lorenzo down. He keeps coming after us, after the people we care about. This isn't going to stop!"

Matteo's chest heaved, his anger barely contained. "You're not listening, Julian. We don't have the same power as Lorenzo. We're not equipped for this fight, not yet."

I took a step closer, my eyes locked on his. "Then we make power. We build it. We make allies if we have to."

Matteo frowned, his arms crossing tightly over his chest. "And who exactly do you think is going to back us in a war against Lorenzo?"

"Vito. Angelo. Hell, anyone who has a bone to pick with Lorenzo," I said firmly. "He's burned a lot of bridges, Matteo. We're not the only ones who want him gone."
