"What died didn't stay dead. What died didn't stay dead. You're alive, you're alive, in my head."
"I should've asked you questions. I should've asked you how to be. Asked you to write it down for me. Should've kept every grocery store receipt, 'cause every scrap of you would be taken from me."

"Every step, every word, with every hour, I am falling in, to something new. Something brave, to someone l, have never been. I can't decide what's wrong, what's right, which way should go? If only I knew what my heart was telling me, don't know what I'm feeling. Is this just a dream? Uh-oh, yeah, if only I could read the signs in front of me; I could find the way to who l'm meant to be, uh-oh. If only, yeah. Am I crazy? Maybe we could happen, yeah."
— Jia's POV, two weeks later —
"Okay, class dismissed."
I stood from my seat, yawning. Oh right, mom is about to have surgery! Quickly, I pulled my phone out, sending a quick message to mom.
: eomma are you about to have the surgery?
: take care, jay oppa told me he was with you.. i wish i was there too:((
: but anyways, call me when you're done! praying for you eomma.
I turned off my phone, closing my eyes and sighing. Who knows if this will be the last time seeing mom? . . .
Nah, I can't even think of it. Plus, she's a very healthy woman, and her treatment is going really well. Cheer up, Jia. I headed to the cafeteria, to meet up with Wony.
I walked around, searching for my friends. "Jia!"
I turned at the call, seeing Sunoo.
"Oh hey Sunoo!" I smiled at his cheerful personality. "What's up?"
"Well, not much. I just wanted to tell you that Wonyoung is eating with us. Come on!" He invited.
"Ugh, that girl left me uninformed again!" I pouted jokingly, following him as he walked to their table.
"Hey girl!" Wonyoung called out. I rolled my eyes playfully.
"Seriously? You greet me that cheerfully when you ran out of the class without me?" I muttered, smiling slightly.
"I'm sorry, but the gimbap ain't waiting! I had to come get one! Sit down." Wonyoung chuckled, patting the empty seat next to her, a food tray on the table. "I even got food for you!"
I laughed, taking a seat and digging in.
"So, is it Aunty Park's surgery today?" Jungwon asked me.
I nodded. "Heck yeah, I'm nervous as hell." I muttered, sighing.
"She's a strong woman, isn't she." He mumbled, stabbing his steak with his fork. (yes, steak as the cafeteria food.)
"She is." I said quietly. "I just really pray that the surgery is successful."
"She seems great." Riki smiled.
Wonyoung sighed. "She is! I had a video call with her."
"You did?" I said, surprised.
"Yeah. I hope I'll get to again." Wonyoung frowned.
