All rights go to ABC Family. Otherwise this would not be fanfiction, this would be in the show, and the show would be the only thing on ABC Family. Alas, this is fanfiction, it is not a part of the show, and the show rarely comes on at any other time than Tuesday night. Enjoy!

Kirsten came looked behind her as the elevator doors dinged open. Inside stood Linus and Camille, smiling and laughing about something. Kirsten could see the thread that was weaved between them, growing longer as the two separated.

She had always seen relationships like that. She could never be sure how two people were connected, but she knew they were. More recently however, she was starting to understand it. She saw the connection between her roommate and Linus as something not quite love, but something more than just friendship. She wasn't sure if there was a word for it.

She looked at Maggie. No threads seem to come or go. Maybe that's what Maggie was good at. She never got too close, she never felt the tug of threads.

Kirsten could see the threads everywhere. Going up and down, left and right. Looking at herself, she saw two strings. One led to Camille. One led back to her, and both ways she could tell it was friendship. Camille wasn't the perfect roommate, but she was helpful. And she was trying to really be Kirsten's friend.

Following the other string, she watched as it went across the room and finally connected her to a person. The brunette in contacts wasn't currently watching her. Cameron had his eyes on his equipment, doing who knows what.

Kirsten could never figure out the connection between herself and Cameron. He cared for her, she knew that much. She also knew that she cared for him. But she could never pinpoint exactly just how they felt about each other.

Cameron did feel some annoyance toward her at times, she could tell. But something always topped that, something that made him forget all annoyance. While she was watching him, he looked up, directly at her. Kirsten saw him vulnerable again, and, as hard as she tried, she couldn't look away.

The brunette in question walked over to her, a slight smile on his face. "What's got you thinking so hard Stretch?" When he said that, Kirsten finally saw it. The thing that connected the both of them, the string that twisted and turned until it found its way to the two of them. It was so obvious, yet so hidden, as if they were playing a game of hide and seek.

Which of course led her to ask a simple question.

"Are you going anywhere this Friday?"

Cameron looked at her like she had told him the most ludicrous thing in the world. And while that wasn't true, asking him the most ludicrous thing the world might have.

Even so, he responded. "I don't think so. Why do you ask, Sparky?"

While her first question had been easy her proposal felt ten times harder to say. "I was wondering if you would like to go out to dinner somewhere?"

For a minute, Cameron was quiet. Kirsten felt like everyone in the world was staring at the two of them at that moment. Everything in her tensed as she waited for his answer.

"I would love to. So long as I pick the place we eat." Kirsten tilted her head. "Alright. Maybe this time I'll eat on a plate." Then the blonde did the weirdest thing. She smiled. It wasn't a a big smile, but it was something more genuine than a smirk.

"I'll pick you up at eight." With that, the coworkers went different ways. Kirsten toward the elevator, Cameron toward Linus.

"This is way too formal, Camille." Kirsten was now standing in front of a mirror, looking at the slim-fitting dress she was now wearing. It was black, and way to tight for Kirsten's liking.
