"Time for Secret Santa gifts, guys!" Camille exclaimed. It was Christmas Eve, and Camille, Cameron, Kirsten, Linus, Maggie, and Fisher were all gathered at Kirsten and Camille's house for a pre-Christmas dinner party. Despite the events of the past year (and that, my friends, is quite the despite), the friends were all in the Christmas cheer.
Linus gave a big whoop at that, and ran over to the miniature tree set up in the corner. "Me first, I get to go first," he said hurriedly, making the rest of the gang laugh. He picked out the one that said Linus on the tag, and then started tearing at the wrapping. When he was done, he stared at the thing in his hands in awe.
"Come on, Linus, show us what it is," Cameron prompted.
Linus turned it around to face everyone. It was a leather-bound book, with gold lettering down the spine. "It's a special edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! I've had my eye on this for months! Who got it?"
Kirsten raised her hand a little, giving a shy smile. "You mentioned it a couple months ago, and I didn't think you had gotten it yet," she let out, sounding kind of unsure of herself. Linus put the book down gently, then ran over and wrapped the blonde in a hug. After a moment, Kirsten awkwardly reciprocated, and Linus pulled away with a smile on his face.
"Thank you so much!" he cried. Linus went back to his book, holding it to his chest as he sat down.
Before Kirsten could see the look Cameron was giving her, Camille clapped her hands together, and everyone looked over. "Well, as heartwarming as that was, I believe it is time for our dear friend Fisher to go. Go right ahead, champ," she stated, clapping a hand on the detective's back.
Fisher sighed, mumbling something as he walked over to the tree. He grabbed a long rectangular package wrapped in hot pink paper, labeled To: Fisher and From: Camille. He unwrapped it, and when he was done he let out a snicker. "A fishing rod? Was that the best you could do?" he questioned Camille.
"Oh definitely not," she replied, "Just wait till you see what I got for your birthday."
Everyone laughed at that, enjoying the playful banter. After that, it was Maggie's turn, who received a pair of navy blue heels from Fisher. Then Cameron, who got a vintage comic book from Maggie (who didn't deny the hug Cameron gave her, believe it or not). And then Camille, who laughed as she unwrapped her leopard print skirt from Fisher. All that was left after that was Kirsten, smiling slightly as she went to grab her present from Cameron.
Her present was the only one put in a bag, meaning she had the joy of pulling out all the paper inside. When she was done, she reached down and gently pulled out a stuffed animal around the size of a standard teddy bear. It was blue, and cartoonish looking. Glancing over at Cameron, she asked, "Stitch?"
Cameron stood up and walked over, and at the sight of a possible touchy-feely moment, the rest of the gang murmured excuses such as more wine and more cake. Cameron came to stop beside Kirsten, and gingerly put a hand on her shoulder, looking down at the toy. "Yeah, I mean- It's a pun, because you're our stitcher and he's Stitch, you know. And he kinda acts like you did when we first met - he had some problems with emotions, and he was kind of always angry. But then he cared about something and it changed everything for him."
Kirsten nodded a little, overwhelmed by the gift. It wasn't that much, really, but it struck something inside of her, something she hadn't felt since the time months ago when she'd kissed Cameron.
"Camille set up mistletoe all around the house you know," she blurted out. Embarrassed by what she had just said, Kirsten adverted her eyes from where they'd been looking into Cameron's.
Prompted by the confession, Cameron looked up, and went red at the sight of the plant hanging above them. Kirsten looked up too, then looked back down. He wouldn't, would he? He's still with Nina.
Apparently Cameron didn't share the same mindset, because he reached down, tilting Kirsten's face up towards his. Slowly, he leaned down and placed his lips on Kirsten's. The blonde responded immediately, wrapping her arms around Cameron's neck, the plush toy still in her left hand. The kiss was gently, much like the first one they had both consciously shared. When Cameron pulled back, Kirsten pushed forwards a bit, blatantly wanting more. Cameron pushed her back though, but still moved so that their foreheads stayed close together.
"What about Nina?" Kirsten breathed out.
"I'll figure something out," Cameron replied, too busy admiring the closeness to really think of what to do.
"Okay," Kirsten whispered, "okay."
"And that, my dear friends, is how to have a Merry Christmas!" someone shouted from behind Cameron. He turned around, greeted by three jaw-dropped faces and Camille dancing a little. He shook his head a little, closing his eyes and bringing a hand to pinch bridge of his nose.
Kirsten stepped forwards, and leaned into Cameron's frame. "Merry Christmas," she murmured.
Cameron looked over, and kissed the top of her head. "Merry Christmas," he whispered.
