The morning sun filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the bedroom.
Pon sat up slowly in bed, still feeling the aftereffects of his recent illness but grateful to be feeling much better.
He glanced at Sailub, who was already dressed and sitting at the edge of the bed, his expression serious but soft, as usual.
"Morning, Saisai.." Pon greeted, his voice still a little hoarse from the fever, but much stronger than before.
Sailub looked over at him, a faint smile on his lips as he reached over to touch Pon's forehead. "Morning My Baby.. How are you feeling today? Any dizziness? Nausea?"
Pon shook his head, pushing himself up to a sitting position. "I'm okay. A little tired, but much better than before."
Sailub's frown deepened with concern. "Good. But I think it's time for you to get a full check-up. I'm still not comfortable with you being sick, even if you say you're fine."
Pon chuckled softly, though it was tinged with amusement. "Sai, I'm really okay. But if you say so.. I can't do anything about it can I? hehe.."
Sailub didn't seem convinced, but he didn't push it further. With a determined look in his eyes, he helped Pon out of bed and they made their way to the car.
Despite Pon's protests, Sailub insisted on driving him to the private hospital for a check-up. Sailub was relentless in his care for Pon, his desire to protect him only seemed to grow stronger with each day that passed.
The hospital was a quiet, upscale building, far from the chaos of the more crowded public hospitals.
Sailub had connections, so they were escorted directly into a private room, where Pon was thoroughly examined by a doctor. The whole process took about an hour, and during that time.
Sailub didn't leave Pon's side. His eyes never strayed far, watching with an intensity that almost bordered on obsessive. But Pon didn't mind well it was just who Sailub was.
The doctor, after running a few tests and asking Pon about his symptoms, gave him a clean bill of health. "It looks like you've fully recovered," the doctor said.
His tone was reassuring. "No lingering issues. Just take it easy for the next few days, and you should be fine."
Pon breathed a sigh of relief, glancing over at Sailub, whose tension seemed to melt away with the doctor's words. "See? Told you I was fine," Pon teased, his lips curling into a soft smile.
Sailub didn't return the smile. Instead, he sighed in relief, his eyes softening as he looked at Pon. "I know. But I just needed to make sure. You've been through enough, Pon. I'm not taking any chances."
Pon smiled warmly, his hand reaching out to squeeze Sailub's. "I know you care. I appreciate it, my love, thank you really."
Sailub gave him a soft nod but didn't say anything more, his gaze lingering on Pon's face for a moment longer before the two of them left the hospital.
They made their way back to the mansion, the ride silent but comfortable, both lost in their own thoughts.
Pon could sense that Sailub's protective nature wasn't going to let up anytime soon, but he was learning to accept it.. after all, Sailub wasn't just protecting him physically. There was something deeper in that care, something more intimate and sincere.
Once they were back at the mansion, Sailub made sure Pon was settled on the couch, the usual cushions and blankets surrounding him.
He seemed unwilling to let Pon do anything on his own, but Pon didn't mind. He was content to just be near Sailub, to enjoy the peace and quiet of their time together.
Sailub disappeared into the kitchen, only to return shortly with a tray of snacks fruit, tea, and sandwiches, as though he'd planned the perfect afternoon for them. He set the tray on the coffee table, making sure everything was within Pon's reach.
"I thought we could relax a bit today. Watch some movies," Sailub said, his voice softer than usual. "You've been through a lot, and I want you to feel at home here."
Pon smiled, touched by the gesture. He leaned back on the couch, pulling a blanket over himself as he made room for Sailub to sit beside him. "I'd like that. A quiet day with you sounds perfect."
Sailub sat down beside him, his body close enough that their shoulders brushed. He grabbed the remote and began flicking through the options, eventually landing on a light comedy that they both had enjoyed before.
The sound of the TV filled the room, but neither of them spoke much at first. Instead, they just enjoyed the comfortable silence, the soothing sounds of the movie in the background.
As the movie played, Pon found himself gradually relaxing into the soft cushions, his body still a little worn out from the illness. He leaned his head onto Sailub's shoulder, feeling the warmth of his body close to his. It was comforting having Sailub here, feeling his presence as a constant in his life.
Halfway through the movie, Pon glanced up at Sailub, who had his eyes focused on the screen, though he seemed to be more aware of Pon's every move than the movie itself.
There was something different in the way Sailub was looking at him today something that felt deeper than just friendship, more like a bond that had been growing stronger with each passing day.
Pon hesitated for a moment before breaking the silence. "You know... I never really got the chance to ask you about your past. About you... before everything. What was it like, growing up in the mafia world?"
Sailub paused the movie, glancing down at Pon, his expression unreadable. For moment, there was a tension in the air something heavy that neither of them spoke about. But then Sailub sighed, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
"You really want to know?" he asked, his voice gentle but serious.
Pon nodded, his fingers tracing absent-minded patterns on the blanket. "I do. You've told me bits and pieces, but I want to understand. I want to know you, not just the man you are now, but the one you used to be."
Sailub's eyes softened, and for a moment, he seemed lost in thought. He reached for the cup of tea on the coffee table, taking a slow sip before he spoke again.
"I grew up in a world where trust was a luxury, and love was something that could be bought or traded. The mafia world... it doesn't give you room to be weak. I was taught that from a young age. My family wasn't one for affection everything was about power, influence, and survival. I was taught to keep my distance, to trust no one. But then I met you, my love.."
Pon looked up at Sailub, his heart beating faster at the way Sailub's voice softened, almost tender, as he spoke.
"You showed me that there was more to life than that. You made me want to change, to see things differently. And that scares me, Pon. It scares me because I don't want to lose that. I don't want to lose you ever.."
Pon's eyes widened, the depth of Sailub's feelings becoming clear in that moment. He reached out, taking Sailub's hand in his, the warmth of their connection undeniable. "You won't lose me, My Sai.. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not like the rest of them who leave you, I'll stay strong just for you and for my family."
Sailub squeezed his hand, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "I know. And that's why I want to protect you and never make you feel hurt or sick.. Because I don't want to ever go back to the life I had before. Not if it means losing you."
Pon smiled softly, his heart full of affection for the man beside him. "Then we'll face whatever comes next together, Sai. No matter what."
Sailub nodded, his gaze locked onto Pon's, filled with a quiet promise. "Together."
With that, they turned their attention back to the movie, the world outside fading away as they enjoyed the simple pleasure of being with each other.. no mafia business, no danger, just the two of them, sharing quiet moments in the comfort of their home.
