The morning sun streamed through the large windows of the mansion, casting soft golden light across the room where Pon lay resting.
He had spent the last few days recovering from his illness, and though his fever had subsided, his energy still hadn't returned to normal.
Sailub was determined to make sure Pon took it easy today, keeping him away from work and any distractions.
Sailub entered the room with a tray of breakfast, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and pancakes filling the air. Pon was sitting up in bed, wrapped in one of Sailub's oversized sweaters.
His hair was messy and his face was still pale from the illness. But despite that, there was a softness to him now, a gentle smile tugging at his lips as he looked up at Sailub.
"Good morning, my baby," Sailub greeted, placing the tray carefully on the bed beside him. His voice was warm and steady, his expression always one of concern when it came to Pon's well-being.
Pon blinked up at Sailub and stretched, feeling the stiffness in his muscles. "Morning, Saisai... Thanks for breakfast," he said, his voice still hoarse, but much better than before. "You didn't have to make all this for me hmph.."
Sailub smiled, brushing a hand through Pon's hair as he sat next to him on the bed. "I want to take care of you, Pon. You've been through so much lately. You deserve this. And more."
Pon looked at Sailub with a soft gaze, his heart swelling with affection. "You really are always looking out for me, aren't you?" he murmured.
"Always," Sailub replied, his hand lingering on Pon's shoulder for a moment before he took a seat beside him.
Pon reached for the pancakes, his appetite slowly returning as he dug into the breakfast Sailub had prepared for him. Despite his sickness.
There was a comforting sense of peace in the mansion. It was a world away from the chaos of the outside, and in that moment, Pon felt safe. Loved.
After breakfast, Sailub decided to keep things simple for the rest of the day. He insisted that Pon stay in bed, resting.
"We're not going to push it today," Sailub said firmly. "You need more recovery time, and I'm going to make sure you get it."
Pon sighed dramatically, though there was a twinkle of humor in his eyes. "I'm not a baby, Sai," he said, but his voice carried a touch of warmth.
It was clear that he appreciated Sailub's attention, even if he didn't always want to admit it.
"You're not a baby," Sailub replied, raising an eyebrow. "But that doesn't mean that you're my baby and j won't spoil you a little. You've earned it."
Sailub stood and walked toward the door. "I'm going out for a bit. I'll be back soon."
Pon looked up, confused. "Going out? Where?"
Sailub flashed a mischievous grin. "It's a surprise. Just stay put and relax. I'll be back before you know it."
After a couple of hours, Sailub returned with a large bag in hand. Pon was still lounging on the bed, flipping through a magazine, and when he saw Sailub enter the room, he sat up, a little surprised by the unexpected return.
"What's in the bag?" Pon asked, his curiosity piqued.
Sailub set the bag down on the bed with a playful smile. "Well, I couldn't let you get bored while you're stuck in bed, could I?"
He reached into the bag and pulled out an enormous stuffed toy, larger than Pon himself.
It was a giant plush bear, soft and fluffy, with big, expressive eyes and a gentle smile. It looked almost comically out of place in the sleek, modern decor of the room, but Pon's eyes immediately widened.
"Whoa," Pon said in awe, reaching out to touch the toy. "That's huge!" He laughed softly, clearly amazed by the size of the bear. "It's bigger than I am!"
Sailub sat down beside him, grinning at the sight of Pon's surprised expression. "It's to help you feel better. It's hard to stay in bed all day with nothing to do, so I thought this might make it easier."
Pon looked at the stuffed bear and then back at Sailub, his face lighting up in a way that made Sailub's heart skip a beat.
There was something about Pon's childlike wonder that always managed to melt Sailub's stern exterior.
Pon hugged the stuffed bear to his chest, his face lighting up with genuine joy. "This is so soft... I love it," he said.
Snuggling into it with a small giggle. The way he reacted was endearing, almost childlike, and it made Sailub's protective instincts flare up. He had never seen Pon like this, so carefree and innocent.
"Well, I'm glad you like it," Sailub said softly, his voice becoming tender. He gently ruffled Pon's hair as he leaned back against the headboard.
"It suits you. Makes you look even more adorable than usual."
Pon's cheeks flushed at the compliment, and he looked down at the stuffed bear, burying his face in its plush fur. "Stop it, you're making me blush.." he mumbled, embarrassed but secretly pleased by Sailub's words.
Sailub chuckled, clearly amused by the way Pon was acting. He didn't mind one bit if anything, it made him more determined to take care of Pon in every way possible.
Pon spent the rest of the afternoon wrapped in the soft embrace of the stuffed bear, occasionally glancing up at Sailub with a shy smile.
The fever had passed, but something had shifted in Pon's behavior. His earlier childlike wonder hadn't fully faded.
In fact, as the day went on, he began to act more and more like a child cuddling the bear close to him, giggling when Sailub made silly faces at him, and even asking for more snacks than usual, his appetite seemingly growing by the hour.
Sailub watched this shift with a mix of amusement and fondness. It was strange, yet endearing.
He had never seen this side of Pon before the side of him that didn't carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, the side that was free to be playful and innocent. Sailub couldn't help but smile, leaning over to kiss the top of Pon's head.
"You're such a baby sometimes," Sailub teased, brushing a lock of hair from Pon's forehead.
Pon looked up at him, his eyes wide and playful. "I'm not a baby!" he protested, but there was no real heat behind his words. His face was still flushed.
His cheeks warm from the attention, and he clutched the stuffed bear even tighter, like a little kid refusing to let go of their favorite toy.
Sailub laughed softly, shaking his head. "You sure about that? hm? my little baby."
Pon pouted but didn't respond, instead focusing entirely on his new stuffed companion. It was clear he was enjoying the attention, even if he tried to play it cool.
As the evening came and the sun began to set, Sailub sat beside Pon, watching him carefully as he continued to cuddle the stuffed bear.
Hias mood light and full of playfulness. It was the first time in a while that Sailub had seen Pon so carefree, and the sight warmed his heart.
"You know," Sailub said, running his fingers through Pon's hair, "you can act however you want with me. If you want to be a kid for a while, I'm all for it."
Pon smiled softly, nuzzling into the plush bear. "Maybe I do need to act like a kid sometimes," he admitted, his voice quieter now. "It's nice to just not worry about anything for once."
Sailub leaned in, his voice low and serious as he looked at Pon with a hint of affection. "You deserve to feel that way every day, Pon. You don't have to carry the weight of the world alone. I'm here for you, no matter what."
Pon looked up at him, eyes soft and filled with gratitude. "I know, Sai. I really do."
And as the night settled in around them, Sailub stayed by Pon's side, silently promising to always be there, to take care of him no matter how childish or serious Pon's needs were.
In that moment, it didn't matter. Because they were together, and that was all that mattered.
