The day after Pon’s kidnapping was heavy with tension. The morning sunlight filtered through the windows of their bedroom, casting a soft glow over the room, but Pon felt anything but calm.
He sat up slowly, his eyes scanning the familiar space, seeking comfort in its normalcy. Sailub stirred beside him, sensing Pon’s unease before he even spoke.
Sailub pulled Pon gently into his arms, feeling the subtle tremor in his body. “You had another nightmare?” he asked softly, brushing his lips against Pon’s temple.
Pon nodded, unable to find his voice. His heart raced, and every sound felt amplified the distant hum of traffic, the birds outside, even the creak of the house settling.
Pon was still scared and traumatized from everything that had happened yesterday and it was a first time, first time getting kidnapped and being away from his beloved.
Pon sniffed as he adjusted into Sailub's arms feeling his warmth and love not getting enough of it and resting his head on Sailub's chest.
“You’re safe now, love,” Sailub whispered, tightening his embrace. “Nothing’s going to happen to you again. I promise.”
Pon clung to him, burying his face in Sailub’s chest. He wanted to believe those words, but the lingering fear was hard to shake.
Pon sighed and pressed his lips together watching the view from the huge window that was beside the enormous bed, he watched the people or ants in the streets, crossing the streets and cars.
After a few moments, Sailub pulled back slightly, lifting Pon’s chin to meet his gaze. “How about you come to the office with me today? Bring the twins. We’ll make it a family day.”
Pon hesitated, glancing over at the cribs where Zai and Pahn were still peacefully sleeping. “I don’t want to be a distraction.”
“You’re never a distraction,” Sailub said firmly. “I want you with me. I need you with me.”
Pon nodded, comforted by Sailub’s certainty and Sailub smiled as Pon agreed planting a soft kiss on his cheeks.
Pon felt very happy and comfortable feeling safe and secured with his husband by his side every single second of his life which he wouldn't imagine.
Pon giggled at the thought of Sailub when he first met him, he thought he was a mafia who would kill him when he did something bad but he's as soft as a baby's butt.
The morning routine felt like a ritual of healing. Pon moved through the motions of changing the twins’ diapers and dressing them in matching outfits, finding solace in their innocent giggles.
Sailub, ever the doting father, helped by preparing bottles and packing a bag of essentials.
Zai, full of energy, kicked his legs excitedly as Sailub secured him in his car seat. Pahn who was quieter, more behaved and observant, watched the world go by with wide eyes. Pon found himself smiling despite the lingering anxiety.
“You okay?” Sailub asked as they pulled out of the driveway feeling concerned about his wife.
“Yeah.. I guess..” Pon replied, reaching for Sailub’s hand. “I just… I’m glad we’re together, especially because I'm with you and with the kids.
“Always, I promise to keep you safe and always stay with you and the twins.” Sailub promised, squeezing his hand and planting a kiss on top of Pon's delicate hands.
The Hemmawich HQ was a fortress, its security tightened after the recent events.
Topten and Michael were waiting at the entrance, their usual playful demeanor replaced with a more serious edge.
“Everything’s under control,” Topten assured Sailub, giving Pon a reassuring nod.
“We’ve got eyes everywhere,” Michael added. “You’re safe here, your family is safe here, I guarantee no kidnappers or anyone dangerous will come inside.”
Pon offered a small smile of gratitude as they made their way inside feeling more safe and held onto Sailub who carried the kids like it was nothing.
Sailub’s office on the top floor was spacious and filled with warmth despite its sleek design.
A large play mat had been set up in one corner, complete with a variety of toys for the twins.
Pon settled on the plush couch, holding Pahn in his lap while Zai crawled around, exploring his new surroundings.
“I’ll be right over there baby..” Sailub said, gesturing to his desk. “If you need anything, just call me, okay? I'll be there for you in 10 seconds.”
Pon nodded, watching as Sailub immersed himself in work, Sailub was handsome even doing such the simplest task, he was amazing and so handsome in Pon's delicate eyes.
The hours passed in a peaceful rhythm. Pon played with the twins, their innocent laughter and giggles filling the room and creating a sense of normalcy.
Zai discovered a new fascination with stacking blocks, clapping each time he managed to build a small tower.
Pahn, ever the observer, chewed on a soft toy while watching her brother while Pon awed seeing Pahn so delicate and so behaved just like Pon.
“You’re such a good big brother, Zai,” Pon cooed, kissing the top of his son’s head.
Sailub glanced up from his work, smiling at the scene. Despite the stacks of documents and constant phone calls.
He found himself drawn to his family. Every few minutes, he would steal glances, reassured by their presence.
Topten and Michael popped in with snacks, turning the office into a mini family gathering.
Michael even attempted to entertain the twins with exaggerated voices and silly faces, earning giggles from Zai and a rare smile from Pahn.
“This is what life should be,” Topten said, handing Pon a cup of tea.
Pon nodded, feeling a warmth that chased away the shadows of fear and he felt more safer than ever, he felt happy and he felt like the luckiest boy in the world.
Later in the afternoon, Pavel arrived with updates. His knock on the door was soft but carried a weight of importance.
“We’ve identified the group responsible,” Pavel informed Sailub.
“They’re trying to establish dominance. We’ve already sent a message.” Pavel replied to his statement.
Sailub’s eyes darkened. “Good. Make sure they understand what happens when they cross me, I hope they reflect that they shouldn't ever mess with me or my family again.”
Pon shivered at the tone but felt reassured by Sailub’s protective presence.
As the sun set, Sailub decided to call it a day. “Let’s head home,” he said, gathering their things.
Back at the house, they enjoyed a quiet dinner together. Sailub fed Pahn while Pon handled Zai, the twins happily babbling between bites.
After the meal, they settled in the living room. Pon rested his head on Sailub’s shoulder, the twins curled up on their laps.
The glow from the fireplace casts a soft light, wrapping them in a cocoon of warmth and safety.
“I’m glad we’re home, with you and the twins, I'm really happy..” Pon whispered.
“Me too,” Sailub murmured, kissing his temple. “This is where we’re meant to be.”
They stayed like that for hours, savoring the quiet moments, grateful for the love that anchored them amidst the chaos.
