Immediately, all twelve climbed over the fence and started charging at them.

The other eight tried to fend them off, defend themselves, and fight back, but the bats were now in their attackers' hands—at least half of them. The rest were fighting bare-knuckled.

Mano locked onto Kash right away and started beating him mercilessly, knocking him to the ground.

Ody stood up, staring in shock at the scene before him, feeling like he was trapped in some surreal situation.

What were all these people doing here? Steve, Chris, even the guys from basketball—and they'd brought others, too.

Mano's punches kept landing one after another on Kash's face, each blow making him visibly wince in pain.

"I told you you'd regret it one day" Mano growled before delivering a solid hit to Kash's eye, drawing a loud cry from him.

The rest of the group was in an all-out brawl, shouts and grunts echoing in the chaos. There were twelve of them, after all, against only eight.

"What was it you said? That I was alone?" Mano taunted. "Maybe I am. But you chose to mess with the wrong guy" He struck Kash's face again, this time with brutal force.

That's where Kash was betting. On the fact that Mano didn't have a crew, like he did. Mano might not, but Ody did.

Kash remained sprawled on the ground, with Mano towering over him, raining punches on his face. The final blow seemed to knock him out cold. Mano took a deep breath, panting heavily as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.

Exhaling sharply, he scanned the area until his eyes found Ody, who was standing frozen a few steps away, the shock written all over his face. He started walking toward him, and Ody's wide eyes stayed glued to him.

"Are we late?" Mano asked.

Ody spoke slowly, his voice barely audible. "You... you did all this?"

Still catching his breath, Mano sighed. "I had to do something..."

Ody blinked a few times, keeping his eyes fixed on Mano before pulling him into a sudden, tight hug. Mano froze, his honey eyes wide in surprise.

"Thank you" he whispered close to his ear, as the fight raged on around them.

With his eyes wide open, Mano blinked, relaxing the muscles in his body. "Were you scared?" he asked, and Ody pulled away, their eyes locking, only inches apart.

"How did you know where they took me?" he asked, his voice still shaky.

"I was on my bike outside your apartment. I followed you"

Mano had been lurking a few meters behind, on his motorcycle, and began following them carefully. When he saw them heading toward the school and forcing Ody out of the car, he pulled out his phone.

[Steve]

"They brought him to the middle school. Get here fast"

"We're on our way. Get up" he spoke to his ten friends gathered at his place, and they left immediately.
............

"Steve...? You called Steve?" Ody asked, his confusion evident.

"What do you think? Look around... I know you didn't want me to get involved, but I couldn't help you on my own. I knew you had friends"

Ody's expression shifted, a hint of sadness crossing his face.

"Yesterday, when I saw you drenched in the bathroom, I felt awful for not being able to do anything. If I'd stepped in, they said they'd hurt you worse than they hurt me"
