"Shall we?" Chrysa asked as Mano watched Ody return to his car.
"Yeah" they left together and ordered after sitting down at a café.
"What instruments do you play?" he asked her.
"Guitar and bassoon. I've just started cello recently"
"Cello is nice. It suits women"
"Why?"
"Because of the posture you have to maintain while playing"
"You do get a bit stiff, but it's fine" she made him smile slightly before continuing, "You're 23, right?"
"How do you know?"
"Well..." she smiled, looking down. "Actually... You used to date a friend of mine. Well, ex-friend, to be precise"
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. Vanessa Andrews" she said, and he tried to remember, but it seemed pointless. "Yeah... Got it. You don't even remember her"
"Maybe if I saw her, I'd remember"
"Forget it. It's better that way"
"Why?"
"Well, we had a falling out"
"I hope it wasn't because of me"
She laughed at his comment. "No, no, don't worry. She just used to talk about you, and that's how I know you"
"And what exactly did she say?"
"That you guys went out, went to your place... That afterward, you stopped replying to her messages... You know, the usual stuff" she said, hinting at something.
"Yeah, well... Let me make it clear from the start. I'm not looking for a relationship. Not even an open one"
"So, you just like going out with girls?"
"If that bothers you, I understand. We don't have to go out again"
"No, it doesn't bother me. I was just making an observation"
"Good then"
"I hope you don't expect to get in my bed after just one coffee"
"How about the second?" he asked, and she looked at him like she was saying, 'Are you serious?'
"You're brutally honest"
"I just don't like complicating things. Relationships come with interrogations, fears... What I'm doing---"
"You don't get emotionally attached to anyone" Chrysa cut him off, and he looked at her.
"Something like that"
"Okay, Mano. No problem" she took her coffee and sipped, looking at him.
Ody returned home, feeling somewhat annoyed by the fact that he had dragged himself to the university just to give Mano a ride, only for him to tell him to leave.
Of course, on the other hand, it wasn't his fault since Ody was the one who insisted on driving him around. Mano never asked for it.
He walked into the house and collapsed onto the couch, knowing he just needed to forget about the whole situation. Besides, starting tomorrow, he'd be able to ride his motorcycle again.
"See you, Mano" Chrysa said as she boarded the bus, while he grabbed a taxi to head home.
Ody received a message from his best friend.
