(LILA'S POV)
The tension in the tunnel thickened, and as much as I wanted to focus on the immediate danger of Clint's security guards tracking us, I couldn't shake the growing realization that there was so much more at play. Suddenly, a figure appeared ahead of us, too fast, too quiet. My heart skipped a beat before everything went to hell.
A loud crash echoed in the tunnel, the sound of metal on stone. In an instant, Quinn was shoving me back, his body blocking mine, but it wasn't enough. The flashlights were still bouncing across the walls when the first security guard rounded the corner.
"Go!" Quinn shouted, but it was already too late. A hand clamped around my wrist, pulling me out of his reach.
"Lila!" Quinn's voice echoed, desperate. But I was already being dragged away, the grip on me firm and unyielding.
I struggled against the guard's hold, but he was too strong, and in the chaos, I could see Quinn fighting off another guard in the distance. The sound of punches, grunts, and the thud of bodies hitting the stone walls filled the air, but I couldn't focus on that. I could only focus on the terrifying thought that this could be the last time I saw him.
