Axel sat at their usual table in the café, watching as Freya took a sip of her coffee, the steam rising in the air, settling into the soft hum of conversation around them. The place was busy, yet it felt like the world had narrowed to just the two of them. There was a warmth in Freya's smile that Axel couldn't get enough of, a calm that seemed to wrap around her whenever their eyes met.

It was the kind of day where Axel felt both excited and nervous, her heart racing in a way that made her almost regret the coffee she’d just ordered. She’d been planning for days, trying to figure out the perfect way to ask Freya on a date. There had been so many things she’d wanted to say, so many moments she’d wanted to capture, but now, sitting across from Freya, everything felt like it was hanging by a thread.

"So," Freya said, glancing at Axel over the rim of her cup, "have you decided what you’re doing for the next few days? Any big plans?"

Axel’s eyes flickered toward the window, her fingers tapping lightly on the table. "Actually, yeah," she said, her voice a little breathless. "I’ve got a plan. But you have to trust me with it."

Freya raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "A plan? For what?"

Axel leaned forward, her heart thumping louder now. She’d spent so long thinking about this moment, but the nerves were still there, twisting in her stomach. "A date," she said, the word feeling both foreign and familiar on her tongue. "I want to take you out."

Freya blinked in surprise. "A date?" She chuckled softly. "I didn’t think you were the ‘planning ahead’ type. This is a first."

Axel laughed, feeling a bit of tension ease. "You’d be right. I’m not really the type to plan things out, but... well, for you, I’m willing to try something new."

Freya’s smile widened, her eyes softening. "I’m flattered."

Axel felt her cheeks warm under Freya's gaze. "So," Axel said, trying to keep her cool, "I’ve been thinking about it, and I want us to have a good time. I know how much you love surprises, so... I’ve got something special planned."

Freya leaned in, her voice lowered in that teasing way Axel adored. "A surprise, huh? Now you’ve got my attention."

Axel’s lips curled into a sly grin. "But I can’t tell you everything yet. That would ruin the surprise. But I can tell you this—just make sure you’re free. I’m thinking two days from now, around sunset."

Freya tilted her head, looking more curious than ever. "And should I wear anything specific? I mean, I’m guessing it’s not a formal event, but..."

Axel winked, feeling a mix of excitement and a little bit of nervousness bubbling up again. "You’ll want to wear something comfortable, but stylish. No heels this time—trust me, I don’t want you complaining about sore feet halfway through."

Freya let out a soft laugh. "Smart move. I’ll keep that in mind. So, what’s the occasion, really?"

Axel leaned back in her chair, smiling to herself. "The occasion is... just us. I figured we’ve been through a lot lately, and it’s time for something fun. Just you and me."

Freya looked at her with that softness Axel had come to cherish, the one that made her feel like the world was lighter, even when everything else felt heavy. "You’ve got a way of making the simplest things sound... extraordinary."

Axel shrugged, feeling a little more at ease now. "I don’t know about extraordinary, but I do know I want to spend time with you. Just you, no distractions. I think we deserve it."

Freya’s smile turned more genuine, her eyes shining with something Axel couldn’t quite place. "You know, I think I’m starting to really like the sound of this."

Axel leaned forward slightly, her voice quieter now. "So... do you think you could make some time for me?"

Freya didn’t immediately respond, instead taking a moment to study Axel, her eyes scanning her face in a way that made Axel feel a little self-conscious. After a beat, Freya nodded, a soft laugh escaping her lips. "You know what? I think I could."

Axel’s breath hitched in her chest, and she grinned widely. "Awesome. I promise you won’t regret it."

Freya raised her cup in a mock toast. "Alright, alright, I’m in. What’s next? Are you going to tell me where we’re going?"

Axel shook her head playfully, the mischievous glint in her eyes returning. "Nope. That’s for you to find out. But... I’ll give you one hint. It’s a place that’s perfect for watching the sunset."

Freya smirked, clearly intrigued. "I’m going to hold you to that. I’m expecting something amazing."

Axel chuckled, feeling a surge of warmth flood through her at the thought of the date they were about to share. "It’ll be amazing, don’t worry. You’ll see."

As they continued their conversation, Axel couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment she hadn’t realized she’d been missing. There was something about Freya that made everything seem possible, something that made Axel believe that maybe—just maybe—she could actually pull this off. She wasn’t just planning a date; she was planning a moment. A moment that would, hopefully, bring them even closer.

And as she looked at Freya, watching the way she smiled and listened so attentively, Axel knew one thing for sure: she was ready for whatever came next. With Freya by her side, she could do anything.

"Two days," Axel said, her voice full of promise. "I’ll pick you up at seven sharp. Be ready."

Freya grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I’ll be ready, Axel. You can count on that."

As they sat there, continuing their conversation and sharing a quiet, comfortable moment, Axel felt the last of her nerves melt away. She had asked Freya on a date, and now, all she had to do was make it perfect.
