Axel sat in the living room, her fingers drumming against the surface of the coffee table, lost in thought. She had made the decision—she was ready to ask Freya to be her girlfriend. But there was one catch. She wanted it to be perfect. Everything had to go just right. It wasn’t just about making it official; it was about showing Freya how much she meant to Axel. And to do that, she needed help.
She glanced at her phone, then sent a message to the group chat with Lia and Mino, asking them to come over. She had a lot to figure out, and she wasn’t about to go through it alone.
Within minutes, Mino and Lia arrived at the apartment, both of them carrying bags of takeout. Axel smiled at them as they walked in, making themselves at home.
“Alright, Axel,” Lia said, setting down the food. “What’s going on?"
Axel gave a small sigh, her hands playing nervously with the hem of her shirt. “Since I want to ask Freya to be my girlfriend. I want to ask her in a special way. I want it to be perfect.”
Mino raised an eyebrow, giving her a look of mock surprise. “So you’re telling me you want help planning this? What happened to the Axel who just went with the flow?”
Axel shot him a playful glare. “Shut up. This is important to me.”
Lia leaned in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Okay, I’m in. What do you need? We can make this the best night ever.”
Axel ran a hand through her hair, trying to calm the nerves that were beginning to flare up. “I just don’t know where to start. I don’t want to overdo it, but I also don’t want it to be underwhelming. It has to be just... right.”
Mino sat down on the couch, placing the takeout on the table. “Alright, let’s break this down. First, where are you going to do this? What’s the vibe you’re going for?”
Axel tapped her foot nervously, her mind racing. “I was thinking about a quiet spot in the park. Somewhere with a view of the city, but also away from all the noise. I want it to be intimate, just the two of us. Something simple, you know? Nothing too extravagant.”
Lia nodded, already on board with the idea. “I love that. That sounds perfect. You can set up a blanket, maybe bring some candles, and keep it low-key. But we need to make sure the setting is just right. We don’t want to get caught in the dark with no lighting. What time are you thinking?”
Axel bit her lip, considering the options. “Late evening, maybe around 7 or 8? That way, the sun will be setting, and it’ll give it that nice, romantic glow. Plus, it’ll be cooler by then, which is perfect for a picnic.”
Mino nodded thoughtfully. “Good choice. You’ve got the mood, but let’s not forget the essentials. You’re going to need food. What’s on the menu?”
Axel paused. That was a good question. What did Freya like to eat? Axel wanted to make sure the food felt personal, but also something that Freya would enjoy. “Freya loves comfort food. She’s big on pasta, maybe something with a little more flair. A salad on the side, and dessert... She loves chocolate cake, especially with strawberries.”
Lia’s eyes lit up. “I’m already getting ideas. I can make the pasta and salad, and we can order a cake from that bakery Freya loves. You know, the one with the fresh fruit. It’ll look amazing.”
Mino grinned. “This is coming together. But you’re going to need some drinks too. Do you want to go with wine, or something more casual like sparkling water or iced tea?”
Axel thought about it for a moment, then nodded. “Wine would be perfect. Maybe a red? Not too fancy, but something that pairs well with pasta. Freya’s not big on strong drinks, so we’ll keep it light.”
“Red wine and pasta. I like it,” Mino said, giving a thumbs up. “Okay, so now we’ve got the food and drinks. What about you? What are you wearing?”
Axel froze for a second, her mind blanking. She hadn’t even thought about her outfit yet. She didn’t want to go too over the top, but she also wanted to look good for Freya. “I don’t know. Something casual, but special. I don’t want to seem like I’m trying too hard.”
Lia jumped in, always the voice of reason when it came to fashion. “How about a nice pair of jeans, a fitted shirt, and maybe a jacket? Something that’s comfortable but still makes a statement. You want Freya to see that you put thought into it, but not like you’re trying too hard.”
Axel nodded, relieved. “Yeah, that sounds good. Comfortable, but still me.”
Mino grinned. “Perfect. And you know what? You should get her flowers. I’m sure she’ll love that.”
Axel’s eyes widened. “Flowers?”
“Yeah,” Mino said, shrugging. “It’s a simple touch, but it adds to the whole vibe. Nothing too big—maybe a bouquet of her favorite flowers.”
Axel felt her heart swell at the thought. She’d never really thought about getting flowers for someone, but for Freya, it felt right. “I’ll do that. I think she’d like that.”
“Okay, we’re almost there,” Lia said, checking her phone. “We’ve got the location, the food, the drinks, your outfit, and the flowers. Now, the final touch.”
Axel looked at her, slightly confused. “What do you mean, the final touch?”
Lia smiled, her tone becoming more serious. “You’ve got all the logistics down, but it’s the words that will make this unforgettable. You need to tell her how you feel. Don’t just make it about the moment—let her know what she means to you. You’ve been patient, you’ve been building this up, and now’s the time to say it.”
Axel swallowed hard. That was the hardest part of all. Finding the right words. “I’ll figure it out,” she said, a little unsure. “I want her to know how much she means to me. I want her to feel like she’s the one, you know?”
Lia placed a hand on her shoulder. “She’ll know. Just speak from your heart.”
Mino gave a thumbs-up. “You’ve got this, Axel. Just be yourself.”
Axel smiled at both of them, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. She had a plan. She had her friends supporting her. And most importantly, she had Freya.
The night was almost ready. Everything was in place, and Axel could already picture how it would unfold. It was going to be perfect.
