Chapter twelve

Maia stood on the house with Narcissa. she looked to her mother. She couldn't believe that any of this was happening. But one thing that she was glad over was that her mother wasn't exactly dead.

"Are you going to tell me what is going on?" Maia asked.

Narcissa looked to her and sighed. "You were never meant to get caught up in any of this darling. I'm sorry. I had to do this. I had no choice to protect my own children. I had to do it."

"You faked your own death mother. How do you think we have been doing because of it. It's to do with my father isn't it?" Maia asked.

She knew what Lucius was like. And what he was capable of. And she was scared for her mother.

"It is. He's got involved in something with the dark lord. And it's something that could put the two of you in danger. I didn't want to do this. I didn't want to leave you. But I had no choice in any of this. I need you to know that," Narcissa said as Maia looked to her and nodded.

She could tell that Narcissa was desperate, or she wouldn't have done this. She knew that she would have found a way this.

"How long?" She asked.

Narcissa sighed. "I don't know but for now it's best that I remain dead. And your brother can't know," she said as Maia nodded.

Narcissa pulled her daughter into her arms and hugged her. "I know what I am doing. Trust me darling," she said as Maia nodded.

Maia got back to Hogwarts. She saw Grace who walked over to her. "Hey. Are you okay?" Grace asked as Maia shook her head.

Grace looked to her and smiled. "Come on," she said as she lead Maia into an empty classroom. She cast a spell so no one could listen in. "What happened?"

Maia sat down and sighed as she looked to her. "You can't tell Draco. She's alive. It's something to do with my father to keep me and Draco safe. No one can know for now. She has to stay dead. My head is a mess. I hate this. I just want my mum," she said as she started to cry. 

Grace pulled her into her arms and hugged her. "I know it hurts. But she's doing it for you. And no matter what, you know she's alive. And it will be okay," she said as Maia nodded knowing that she was right.

Maia saw Severus as he stood in the hallway. She stood looking at him for a moment and sighed.

She didn't know what to think. But she knew that he knew more than he was letting on and she knew he was close to her father.

She knew that he knew the real reason as to why her mother had faked her death. And she knew that she was going to get the answers that she needed.

She knew what she was going to find out what was going on. No matter what it took.
